HiD replacements / Headlight replacement

Hi

I have a 2001 Acura CLS.

Both of my headlights are out on my CLS. Luckily the high beams are on (some how).

I've spoken to Acura and they said it would cost a lot of money (over $1000) to replace both the igniter and burner for both passenger and driver side headlights.

I was introduced to an 'after market' solution, where by an HiD conversion kit? could be used as an alternate solution. It was suggested the price might be around $500 (CDN) for both sides.

I was wondering if anyone knows

A) what the average cost is to do a job like this
B) what brand of HiD conversion kit ? is a better one. The guy said Luminous?
C) How much do the conversion kits cost on their own.

Thanks!

www.sharphid.com

Shouldn't cost you more than $70.

You need an HID kit with DSR bulbs. Installation is very easy.

Cheap:

DDMTuning.com ($40 for the pair)

Quality:

The Morimoto kit doesnt come with bulbs, but it has the correct ignitor for our D2R bulbs (not DSR). So if your current bulbs arent bad, then theres no need to replace quality Phillips/Osram bulbs with cheap rebased bulbs. Look at the reviews for them, the very first one is someone that used them on a CL.

Does anyone know if these aftermarket ballast kits are direct plug and play or do they require wiring and splicing? My passenger side ballast has gone out for the 2nd time and i'm fed up with the factory options and pricing.

They require very little splicing (two wires).

Morimotos are good. I have a pair of their 5000K HID bulb & ballast since December 2010 & they are still running fine.
