Help -- Weird A/C Problem
Help -- Weird A/C Problem
So i've been dealing with this issue for a long time now but it's getting more than annoying now.
The Air Conditioner blows cold at first but then dies off after driving for a while. It goes warm even faster if I am stuck in traffic or driving local.
I have found a work around that is not ideal, but it's also the weird part. I can get it to be freezing cold again by Flooring It on the highway (WOT). Once I do this it becomes freezing again. Weird huh? After this it stays cold for a pretty long time.
I thought I was low on refrigerant so I went to a specialty place that completely evacuated the system and refilled it with a special computerized system. As soon as they refilled it, it was blowing so cold that it almost hurt! The pipes were sweating under the hood so I was happy and though that the problem was solved.
The next day, back to the same ol thing. Cold then Warm. No more sweaty a/c lines like they should be.
Any ideas?
I've checked the following
-Clutch engaged just fine and spinning even when blowing warm
- When i toggle the A/C button the clutch goes off and on just fine
- A/C fan works fine and responds to the A/C button on the dash as well.
- When the A/C goes warm, so do the A/C lines under the hood. No sweat or cool/coldness at all. They become just as warm as everything else under the hood.
Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
I'm still confused as to why when I floor the gas, and it down shift hard, it becomes cold again.
Been searching the web and cannot, for the life of me, find anyone else experiencing this issue.
Thanks

yea, im thinking leak. when you floor it or rev the engine faster, the accessory belt that spins the AC compressor goes faster too. This creates compresses the freon in the system and pressurizes it, thats why you have high and low pressure pipes.
When you rev the engine up, the pressure returns to the lines causing the air to be cold like normal. Then the pressure slowly goes away when your off the gas.

It's not a leak if a shop charged it. It would not hold vacuum enough to charge it if it was leaking.
It may be the pressure switch. It's usually screwed into the accumulator/drier. Should have a little electronic connector plugged into it. Not sure where on the CL it is.

That sounds like a weird issue you got there man. Ok guys, check THIS out.........I've got an 04 TSX with abt 60,500 miles and my a/c went out last November. It was cool b/c it was cold here in FL (surprise surprise lol) Anyway, i JUST got my a/c fixed 3 weeks ago and I've been having problems ever since. When the car is going down the road the air is nice & cold....When I come to a stop not so much....I notice the temperature changing which is ok but when it starts to blow warm air is where I have a problem. I've taken it to the local shop for last 5x and the last time they told me there was some type of "blockage" in the system. I've had my compressor replaced, expansion valve, drier, a/c clutch & coil.....just abt everything i need to fix the stupid thing and i'm getting the run around it seems......The dealership told me that its because there is still metal in my condenser....I dunno if that's true b/c they already ripped me of $950 and they couldn't fix the ORIGINAL problem I had....they told me I needed a new a/c unit. Cost was $3k which is crazy. I dunno what to do at this point. I want to sue this repair shop b/c it seems that they can't get the job done. What do yall suggest????
