Help me figure out whats wrong with my car?
Ok this happened 2 days ago.
I started my car and noticed that the check engine light along with the TCS light came on. I figured it might just go away after some driving, but the driving experince was very different. I noticed it took longer to shift into gears just being in D5. When I stopped the car would shake a little. When I switch between D5 and reverse, once the gear engages its rough. I got the code check checked and it came out for Throttle Body. The shop was saying that I need a new one, or maybe the transmission is going bad.
I do still have warranty on the transmission for about 15,000 more miles, I would like to see if thats is possibly the case. Also another thing is that ocassionaly the TCS light goes off, and one time the check engine light went away and it came back shortly after.
Any thoughts?

yea, on my car the check engine light and VSA ! was stuck on when the tranny was on her way out.
It could be something like a clogged switch or something, but either way the tranny has done a lot of work and the internals are probably GUNKED up hardcore. and the filter inside the tranny is the one that is fucked most likely too, causing many other issues.

I got mine done for just under 2000CAD with a few extra things added in as well. and it's MINT now.
so don't go spending 4000 or mid 3s on it, cause they're just taking ur money
NOTE... PULL ur 7.5AMP fuse out in the engine bay by the passenger side. this will reset the ecu, see what happens... u never know

pull off and clean switches, but that's a bitch of a job,especially since it may not do anything.
When i got mine rebuilt the guy just cleaned out all the switches and it's mint.

Well the dealership was busy today, I'm going to try to get it in tommorow, hopefully, meanwhile today the TCS light went off, but after I got out of classes, it came back on, shifting seems to be a little rougher.

Your tranny is DONE, now you are out anywhere from $2K-$4k depending on where u get it done.. Is it really worth doing it? I paid $3200 to get my trans redone about 7 months ago and sold the car for $3000 last week. My rear main seal started leaking a few month after the trans was done and I had enough, So ask yourself if it is really worth it!

I had pretty much the same issue a few weeks back. The TCS light and Check Engine light both came on at the same time. I went for about a week before taking it into the dealership to get it looked at. During that week I noticed poor shifting as well.
Anyways, after getting looked at by Acura, I ended up having some clogged valves among many other things. Total bill was $1,800.00
The actual date fixed was 11/21/09. Since then, no Check Engine Light, no TCS light, and the shifting is SIGNIFICANTLY smoother.

Thanks for the replies everybody, I was kinda hoping it was the transmission because it was still under warranty, but they said that its not transmission related, now I have to figure out what the problem is. Any thoughts?

HELP?? The lights sometimes come go off and on. After a certain amount of startups , the TCS light won't show up and only the check engine light. While the TCS light is off, the shifts are smoother and it shifts within normal rpm range, however when the light comes back on, the poor shifting starts. Also at red lights the car shakes, any thoughts?
When you say "they" I'm assuming you mean the dealer. If they did a diagnostic why didn't THEY tell you what is wrong? How can THEY rule out the tranny and not give you a full diagnostic on the car?
Sayfullfaqq-hey let me know what happens at the dealership. I live in the area but dnt know which Acura dealership you took your car to.
I had to get mines towed to Rosenthal Acura in Gaithersburg cuz my tranny went out on me too. I was going up a hill and the engine would rev to 7000 rpms without switching gears. My VSA light and the Check Engine light and the ABS light all came on.

I have the same problem and i got the same CEL code but i know for a fact it isn't the Tranny. Tranny was replaced by Acura under warrantly less the 20k ago.
Been dealing with this for a while now and i've noticed that the CEL and TCS only come on when i accelerate aggresively into VTEC. Once TCS and CEL lights come on...its nothing but rough shifting...When they go off...itz as smooth as can be.
I played with the sensor located on top of what i believe is the T/B so i'd like to say its the TPS sensor but not 100% sure. Once lights come on, if i unplug the sensor for a bitt and plug it back in, the lights go off and shifting goes back to normal.
Would like to fix this issue, even though i try not to speed so it works out in my favor but its still annoying...
