engine ticking

Hey everyone. I posted this on the second gen forum too (oops) but here is the problem. My car ticks really badly, it isn't just when it is cold either, it is all of the time. I just got the car and i have no idea how it was treated with the previous owner but i would guess it was beat on as i got it for eleven five with 68K on the odometer. This seems cheap for a six speed but it is all i could afford as a high schooler. Anyway, is this normal or should i be worried?

Thanks

I may take it to a shop wednesday afternoon. I'll let you know.

Looking at the engine, does it sound as if its coming from the left side?

purge control solenoid. Order one from the dealer and install it yourself.

Yes it does...sounds like you have the same problem. God I hope it's not the valves. I can't afford any problems. Let me know what you find.

order it online and replace it yourself. worked for me.

im also takin my car into the dealer this thursday for another ticking sound. i think it could be my valves or injectors. but i compared my cl to a 2001 cl the other day and mine was considerably louder.

my 01 ticks, but i'm pretty hard on it. I use synthetic oil also, it helps a little.

My car was ticking pretty bad with throttle and I knew it wasn't the purge valve solenoid since it was coming from the left/front side. I brought the car into Acura to have them look at it and it turned out to be that drive belt had wore out. I was worried it might of been the valves like others I've read on here so before going to get an alignment, look to make sure there are no gaps on drive belts inner track. Guy at the dealer said this isn't the first time they seen a belt causing a ticking.

My bad... I meant left/front facing the car but I guess what I should have said was the right/front of the car. In any case I know what the purge valve is and the ticking I was experiencing wasn't coming from the puge valve. Thanks for pointing that out anyway.

Another thing that commonly gets broken is the actuator - but it rather gives a buzzing noise than ticking -its a black piece right behind center of the engine with about 3ft long linkage leading to intake on pass side
