Engine Temperature Reading acting erratic
Greetings:
This happened recently. When the car would be fully warmed up , the indicator on engine temp would be a tad below the halfway mark. lately even after 30 min of driving the pin will fall to almost right above C.
When I'm waiting at a red light it will rise back up to almost right below the half way mark. After a couple min of driving, it will once again dip down to right above the C or a 1/4 above the C.
I searched and I came up with the thermostat malfunction or the thermostat sensor not sending back the correct signal.
How do I go about fixing this problem and driving while this is happening detrimental to the car's engine, please advise.
Thanks!

could u kindly give the part #? any diy?
im going to guess thermostat stuck open too. especially if it takes a while for the car to warm up.
just follow one of the radiator hoses to the thermostat housing, you should be able to tell. you dont have to get a thermostat from the dealer, any auto parts store will have one that fits our car.

Part number 19301-P8E-A10
A new t-stat comes with the rubber seal.
If you're looking at the engine, follow the radiator hoses to the engine. The t-stat housing is connected to the hose on the right (the one with a sensor in it). I believe its the lower hose. Theres two, maybe three bolts holding it on. Unbolt them, and the cover pops off. The t-stat is right there. Make sure you install the new one the same position as the old one. Bolt everything back up, top off the coolant and bleed the system. Dont forget to do this on a cold engine. And there will be coolant spilling out when you unbolt the housing.

Thank you everybody for the replies. I wanted to wait a while and see if I could replicate the symptoms. The car engine temp is mostly staying near the middle , every now and then it goes back down.
However the car warms up perfectly, and everything drives fine with the shifting. I'm going to be getting the part and bleeding it out soon as I get some free time.
Need to fix the issues with my CL, refer to my other thread.
Again thanks everybody.
