Well it does not look like transmission to me. Does your car have aftermarket atf cooler installed? On the back of the tranny there is a piece of rubber hose, connected to steel pipe that goes to atf filter. That hose might be cracked or if you have aftermarket cooler - lines might have rubbed through. It doesnt look serious to me and mechanic just wants to pop you for $

no after market cooler. i hope thats all it is.my dad was saying that too, that it might be a hose.now where exactly is this hose? do i have to go under the car or under the hood to get to it? can you email me your number so i can know exactly what to do.its gfunkclassic99@yahoo.com,name is andre.would much appreciate it.i had call the acura dealership they told me there is a recall on the the trannies because there is a glich in the second gear.it doesnt get enough lubericant so they will go in and fix that.
if you can get back to me asap,i will be thankful.

ok how do you know it's the trans for sure? Did someone break it down & quote you that price?
You should really look in the FAQ. In the trans section there's tons of threads on the trans recall. Do your research.

There are a couple hoses up front towards the bottom of the tranny. Those could have come loose. Double check those. Add some fluid and check the level via the dipstick(yellow handle) Do this while the car is off. This honestly doesnt sound like the tranny recall problem.

The only hose that might have go borken is located on the top back of transmission, just follow the steel line from the filter ( filter is located right under intake rubber tube - screwd into round atf cooler ) and you will eventually get into about 8-10 inch rubber hose - this one might get loose or cracked. It also migt be atf filter O-ring. What I would do is refill tranny with atf (make sure its honda Z1 unless you plan to flush tranny), put it into drive and have somebody look for the leak. You should find it swiftly. Good luck and let usk know what did you find out!

i just came back from the dealer.there is a recall on the tranny for 2 reasons: 1, there is a glich in the second gear it doesnt get enough oil and 2 if the gears r discolored they suppose to replace the tranny.they fixed oil situation.but when i was driving home it was jerking a little bit and the check engine light is still on.ill wait a few days to see if the jerking stops and the light goes off.but tomorrow ill check the hoses out.
now they are sayin my car has a salvage title because it was a theft recovery car i bought from an insurance place and because of that they cancelled the warranty on it.has anyone ever heard of that? how can i go about getting it reinstated? should i call headquarters or what.
thanks guys appreciate the help

That is correct, if the car has a salvage title all Acura warranties are cancelled. No way to get it reinstated that I know of.

the car wasnt in a accident if thats what you are thinking.it was a theft recovery.
they should still be responsible for taking care of the tranny situation regardless of what happen to the car

Sorry but no metter what your arguments are, salvage cars are not covered in recalls and warranties, I know it souns strange but thats th reality!
But still what did they fix regarding oil leak? and what are exact symptoms on your tranny?

salvage title no matter the reason = all bets off
