Hi, I am a new member. I am disabled and in a wheelchair so I cannot fix issues myself. I am hoping to be able to diagnose the problem so when I go to the dealer, mechanic, or Firestone, if it is an easy fix, I can tell them what is going on, so I don't get hosed. I can probably get a friend to help me identify the issue, if I can tell them what to look for.
I have a 2001 Acura CL Type S. I don't know when the problem started exactly, because I don't drive extremely frequently. My Cruise Control won't activate. The main switch lights up when I push the button, but when I try to set it, it doesn't activate and the green light on dashboard doesn't come on. Could it be a blown fuse? Within the last two months, I had to have the stop brake light switch replaced, because my brake lights would stay on even when I was not braking or the car was off. I had it fixed at a Firestone location. When they replaced the switch, could they have done something that would cause the cruise control not to activate? If so when I go back what should I tell them to look at and what possible solutions should I suggest? I am hoping to avoid the dealer due to costs. Thanks for any help.

It could be the #4 stop&cruise switch assembly or it could be that the #5 pedal stopper pad has crumbled / deteriorated.
It is needed to actuate the stop&cruise switch assembly in conjunction with the #10 brake pedal assembly when pressed. Pedal - 2001 Acura CL 2 Door SPORT KA 5AT (acurapartswarehouse.com)
