Coin Box Removal

so yea...just the other day, i was cleaning out my car, and i noticed the coin box was loaded with change and it was looking sorta ugly so i emptied out the box, and to my surprise when i tried to close it, its jammed, i'm guessing since it was so full a bunch of coins somehow slipped behind it and is whats causing the jammage. I've looked all over and in the manual and everything and can't seem to find a way to take it out with out actually just tearing the whole thing out and probably destroying something...so if anyone has actually done it...could you please explain? Alright thanks for the help, pix if you got some!!!

Try a couple good wacks to the side of the center console. See if that pays off.

If you poke around the A/V forum, I'm sure you'll find something there...

Here's a pdf that shows what's involved getting the stock radio out:

Yup, getting to that is a bigger pain in the *** than you'd think.

I mean, if you're doing a head unit install, you can justify the amount of work, but for a stupid wannabe ashtray, I think it's a little excessive.

Good luck

It's easier to pull out the cover (emission connector) under the coin tray. It pops out and it'll pop back in there you'll see or hear the coins fall out. It's located under the tray and to the front. My 2 cents.

I threw that away when I bought the car. When bigger and better things come my way, I'm thinking of installing gauges there so they can be hidden . Besides, I don't ever use the drinking hold area at all anyways.

15 year old re-boot but nothing above was any help as I don't belong to the give-it-wack school.

OBD access pops off easily as it was designed to do. Anyone know anything about removing the tray.

The coins are being held firmly in place by the tray so to fix the nuisance it needs to come out.

The below Helms instruction gives you an idea as to what is involved & appears to deliver the removal of your coinbox prize (red arrow) out of the car so you can examine it.
Though I suspect, along the way, you may find an easier method and not quite have to remove all shown below???
Good Luck!

Appreciate the detailed schematic but that is way above my pay grade.

I'll learn to live with the nuisance.
