Clutch problem?

My CL-S 6M has started getting a high pitched noise when the clutch pedal is not depressed, whether it is in neutral or driving. It almost sounds like a belt, but not quite. If I depress the clutch pedal even an inch, the noise mainly goes away. If depressed all the way the noise disappears. I had the clutch replaced 1 1/2 years and 10k miles ago. Any help would be great!

This noise only occurs when the engine is cold and only intermittently. After about 5 minutes it goes away.

Looks like the throw out bearing lost its seal and grease and squeaking a little. ... but you may drive it like that for long without failure

Thanks, that's kind of what I was guessing. It seems to come and go. I did have the mechanics replace the throwout bearing when we changed the clutch. The clutch always kind of had a clunk just when starting to engage, after they changed it. It has gotten a little worse. If I baby it, it shifts fine. If I miss time the rpms it is clunky. What is your guess for the cause of this and why would the throwout bearing go bad so quickly? Are the two related? I used all oem acura parts. I took it back to the mechanics a couple of times in the first week after changing it because of this slight noise and clunk (a feeling through the clutch of it not quite engaging smoothly). They claimed to take it back apart and check everything and that it was fine. Now this noise from what I think you have accurately diagnosed as the bearing. i am pretty sure the mechanics will not cover it since their warranty was only for one year. What do you recommend. I really appreciate any help on this one!!!!

Any guess as to cost of repair would be great. Like will they need to drop the tranny to do it?

Yea, basically look at what they charged you to R&R the clutch, then take off the price of the clutch itself.

I just spoke with an Acura garage. They said based on what I described that we are probably right. It probably is the throwout bearing. They said they would want to replace the pressure plate/clutch and flywheel due to potential damage done from the throwout bearing. Does that sound right to you? I would have guessed with that few miles on it (less than 10k) at least the flywheel should still be ok. What do you think?

I started noticing I have this problem as well a few weeks ago. Thanks for the help in figuring out what it is. My car has 276,000km's on it, so if the clutch goes I may call it quits on the car. We'll see how long it lasts. Thanks again.
