I started hearing a click when shifting recently. I removed the boot to have a look yesterday. While moving the shifter I could see the problem. There was a nylon bushing on the right side shown in the image below. There was no bushing on the opposite side between the cable end and the pin on the shift lever. I did see some pieces of something down in the bottom that may have been the remains of a bushing. I don't see a bushing shown in the parts gif. I fashioned a bushing from some nylon to fit between the cable end and pin and used a bit of straw as a sleeve over the pin. No more clicking.

Sound like the same thing. The crumbs I found were on that white shifter ball thing. I wonder why there is no left bushing listed. I figure my homemade nylon bushing will last for a while. The straw sleeve was probably not necessary but nothing wrong w/ a little overkill. And it was high quality McDonalds straw material
lol, I know. At the time I ran into this I needed the car for a lengthy commute and had to scramble through all of my 'left-over' garage materials to find something suitable to fashion a remedy, hehe. I figured if I could find something metal, the less likely I would have to mess with it again, or remember to check it every so often. So far, 6 years out, its holding up.
