I have a '01 CL type S. Sometime back I had a misfire and engine light came on and engine ran rough for a short time. Mechanic said it was a random cylinder misfire. Suggested it was bad gas. I switched to brand name fuel and replaced platinum plugs (they were due)...all was good. Recently had to have rear and side engine mounts replaced. Drove car 50 miles, parked came back to car, started it and engine light came on and then the VSA light came on. Car seems to run fine, no misfire. Mechanic scanned it and said once again, random cylinder misfire ! Suggested possibly adjusting the valves?? Car has 235,000 miles and up until recently has been flawless other than normal maintenance. Any help or thoughts out there ??

 

happened to me the other day, after research, replaced EGR valve, and both lights are off now. hasn't come back.

 

seems there are a few members having same problem. I had same thing happen to me 2months ago. I would clean intake manifold and EGR ports first. It solved my CEL and VSA lights and the engine runs smoother now.
