cat converter problem

hi all, im new to the site. i have a 2001cls auto. its got 165,000 miles on it and the only thing that isnt original is the fluids, timing belt, water pump and tune up parts. anway, the car is my DD so the camaro can sit in the garage, and it has been nothing but great to me, it looks and drives damn near new.

so to the cat problem, recently the car started to get a pretty bad rattling noise underneith. ive determined that its the cat's insides rattling around.(its 100% not the heat shield) its not been a problem yet as far as the car's performance goes, but its been annoying as hell and getting worse as the days go on. is there any after market cats out there worth a damn? ive heard nothing but horror stories with after market cats on these cars and the stealership is going to be my last option bc of price.

thx in advance

Most places never sell cats when they are parting out cars, they flat out cut em off and have a place buy them, the place melts them down to get the platinum metal out of it. I dont really know if they pay well for it or what but ive tried getting used cats before and i never find them

Don't know what your referring to?

Magnaflow makes stock replacements. I would go that route.
They are cheap as well. You can find them on Ebay for great prices.

Or as suggested get a stock one from a wrecked or used car.
