I have a 2001 CLS and driving to work today my car dies while driving. The lights on the dash also do not come on. I tried to put the car in park and start back up. All it does is crank. The lights on the dash do not come on. after taking to key in/out of the ignition a few times, the dash lights finally came back on and I could start the car again.

Any ideas?

 

Sounds like alternator to me. Get battery tested too.

 

i had this problem and took it to the Acura dealership. They found a faulty relay on the fuel pump. This was several days ago and I have had no problems since.

 

Maybe possible ignition switch. Also check and make sure your battery cables are tight.

 

is it hot out? if so, might be time for a new Fuel Pressure Regulator

 

I have a friend having this problem intermittently. While driving the engine suddenly quits, then after a while starts again and all is well.
