calling all cl owners who have or had a broken front and side engine mount

I was at elk grove acura yesterday doing a routine service and there was a guy with a 01 cls getting his front and right side engine mounts replaced. The odd thing is that my engine mounts are busted too. The service advisor said that since the front mount where changed during tranny fix, it shouldn't have broken...well, i just wanted to know how many of you guys have or had the same problems. I think i'm going to raise this issue up with the NHTSB and see if they can do anything about it cause $559 to replace them isn't cheap. Oh, the last engine mount was changed out at 61K..

thanks guys

Mine broke when my tranny went. They replaced them for free. Something about downshifting from 5th to 2nd at 60 mph made them fall apart.

I dropped my 2003 CL off at the dealership for a new transmission with no hassels, but found out I have a broken motor mount. My Acura only has 62K miles. One service writer stated that this is typical when the transmission goes, but the service writer who checked me in doesn't agree. Anyone else w/this problem?

Front & Side Engine Mounts

Hey...Just took my 01 CL-S to the dealer in MIA...When A/C clutch engages, i feel the car lurch/jerk forward...They Checked it and said my Front and Side Mounts are gone...$520 P&L...Plus they said if i dont get it fixed and my tranny goes, the warranty wont cover it cuz the mounts are bad, and could cause damage to the Tranny....$520!!!!????

Motor Mount Replacement

The dealership will not make the repair under warrantee, they claim it has nothing to do with the transmission, just a problem they see every now & then. But they are not charging $500....just $260 - bad enough. Sounds to me like Acura has another issue besides the transmissions and should get the dealerships on the same page. Hopefully I wont be doing this again in another 60K miles.

I hate to sound harsh but this isn't a problem with just Acura cars. ALL cars that are HIGH HP or HIGH TORQUE OUTPUT will tear up engine mounts

Ford SHO has the problem
Taurus with 3.8L has the problem

The fact that most of you are into the throttle does not help either. Front mounts usually go bad first because they get the full brunt of the engine when it is under load.

I think my front and side mounts are starting to go and I am NOT looking forward to fixing them....

some of the most noticable symptoms are:

excessive wheel hop (noticeable only with VSA off)
hard snaps during shifts (expecially the lower gears even though thans is fine
excessive engine movement or vibration at idle
sloppy shifts

$556 seems steep

My '01 CL-S tranny just died after 67K mi, and my dealer (Leith Acura, Raleigh, NC) is replacing it under warranty. Service guy said the front engine mount also needs to be replaced, $125 parts but no labor charge if they do it while swapping out the tranny. He also suggested replacing the side mount - said it's weak but not broken, but would break if it becomes the weakest mount - at $60 parts + 1 hr labor ($75). That's $260, quite a bargain compared to $556.

Broken Engine Mount

I am hearing the same story over & over. Some dealers are nice enough to make the repair without charging, but for the most part we are all paying for this. Only one side was changed @ 61K on my 2003 CL, found when my tranny was replaced under warrantee. I'm sure I'll be doing the other side soon.

I called Acura & tried my best to get them to track this problem as engine mounts should not be breaking - especially at such low mileage. Not surprising to find them unresponsive. Good luck & if you get anywhere, post a message so we are all up to date.
