Unhappy Body Work-- paint damage HELP!!

Does anyone know how i can remove paint from a garage door off my car? Got a little too close pulling in and i've got a good two feet of white paint on my black CL. I've heard Goo Gone and acetone...does anyone know if these really work?

Any other suggestions?

I would probably suggest not using acetone, but something like Meg's Scratch-X might be able to take some of the paint off. Use one of those terry or micro fiber applicator pads and put some elbow grease into it. If not, there may be a few other ways to take the paint off. You might also want to post this in the Wash & Wax section of the forums.

youre not going to want to do this but turtle wax rubbing compound worked for me just be careful use light strokes, then polish and wax, as long as you didnt crack the paint it should come out looking good.

Any type of rubbing compoud should work. It'll probably take a good bit of elbow grease to remove the paint. If the garage didn't penetrate the clear coat of the car, you should be fine, otherwise, you might need to use a porter cable to buff what you can out and then wax. Maybe snap a couple of pics and post them up? Could also go buy a body shop and see if then have any suggestions.

body work

I think i did a number on it. there's one part where i can actually see metal! I've talked to some people at work and they said it will probably cost me about $2000 to fix. It's scratched nicely and i think it's a little dented. I'll throw some pics up later tonite.

Thanks for all the help! i'll let you know what i end up doing with it.

If the bare metal of the car is showing you'll need to take it to a body shop. No amount of rubbing compound/buffing will be able to take care of that.

get some primer or some type of paint so it doesnt rust. and oils from your fingers on bare metal will make it rust also so u gonna need some wax and grease remover on it before u spray some primer/paint
