Question Any thoughts on CL brakes?

My CL suffers from two annoying front end problems. The first is an out-of-ballance high speed vibration that I'm going to have to take care of with a reballance but the second is more bothersome. My brakes vibrate, the vibration you get with what many guys call "warped rotors". I can feel a bit of a ridge on my rotors and I'm torn between just taking them off and having them turned (with new pads) or buying a new set of rotors.

So all of this got me to thinking about what I should do with my brakes. I did a search of this forum of course, but I didn't find much advice on brakes. But I figure with the kind of milage on almost all of these cars just about everyone has had to deal with their brakes at one time or another. Tell me, did you find good products that you would recommend? Is there some brand or supplier of rotors that are good or best? How about pads, what with all the sorts that seem to be available, what does a guy who just wants good strong brakes and has no desire to modify the stock system should be looking for?

By the way, other than the shaking I'm not at all disapointed with the stock brakes. Saturday I ran the car up to 100 on one of our little-used roads and then jumped on the brakes just as hard as I could jam on the pedal. Seriously, I'm suprised I didn't blow seals out or something, and the car just hauled down briskly with no drama at all - dead straight, not one inch of skidding; the hatch between the back seat and the trunk flew open and some junk flew around on the back seat floor but other than that the car behaved great considering what I had just done.

Anyway, what kind of suggestions do you have on the brakes? Any brands you like, some special types? Anything to stay away from?

I had the warped rotors on my 03 CL at about 30K. I had them turned under warranty and then it came back again around 70K. I paid to have them turned again and then figured that I would just get new drilled and slotted rotors at around 100k. Not sure what they did better at the dealership the 2nd time, but I am now at 145k and no warped rotors! If I were you I would get them turned again and see how it goes before replacing them with some Mopars.

Pretty common. See the brake threads in the FAQ to get ideas on what you can do to replace them.
