another solution for my auto CL guys
i just got my car back after getting an '07 auto TL tranny swapped in. not sure if anyone on here has done it but just wanted to give another option for everyone. we all know how the CL trannys are and i saw no point in continuing to get a rebuilt tranny that i knew was going to eventually go out. ive seen plenty of people on here go through 3, 4, and 5 trannys which is why i wanted to go to a later model 3G tranny thats not known for the problems like ours are. i got more performance mods put in so i needed something more reliable.

I take it it's only the 07-08 TL auto trans that are good...? It'd be strange if it was all 3g TL's, seeing as how they redesigned the CL's auto trans when the 3g TL's were out, but the redesigned 2g CL's trans still has issues...
I dunno, this just seems a little confusing to me.

the '04-'08 can fit but after talking to a bunch of 3g owners the '04 and early '05's have the same issue the 2nd gen cl/tl owners have. so if you do it go with '07-'08. the 3.2 tranny not the type-s 3.5. i cant remember but i think NVA-AV6 said the type-s tranny wouldnt work. i pm'd him about this thread so he should be in soon.
By the way, where exactly would you get a 07 or 08 transmission? I doubt "a junkyard" would be a popular answer...

Ok guys......
Preffered would be a 04-06 oddy trans, since it is a mom mobile there is much less chance it has been beaten on and they are plentiful in the yards.
It is not completely a direct drop in there are some parts (trans range switch, trans filter housing) that need to be transferred and a couple holes that are cast into the housing need to be tapped, the bosses are there they just need to be drilled and tapped.
Triptronic is all a matter of ECU, the physical trans has nothing to do with it.

it took about 2 days but he also did the following:
S/C rebuilt
high flow cat installed
b-pipe installed
tranny cooler installed
front axles replaced
so just the tranny swap id say a little over a day. but all cars are different that could change. for prices you should pm him. but what i can say is that they are very good.
