2001 Power steering belt

Hey all, can you point in the right direction for a DIY or FAQ to change the belt on a 2001 CL s type? Looks to be a PITA and the shops want $175 to do it.

Thanks!

You're going to have to take off the accessory belt to put on the power steering belt.

1.) I think it's a 14mm wrench on spring load pulley and push back towards cabin of car. (This will let you remove the accessory belt.

2.) Now that this belt is removed, you will want to look for the side motor mount bracket and remove the two bolts that are near the power steering pump.

3.) undo the 1 power steering pump bolt, I think its a 12mm but I can't remember.

4.) Loosen the nut on the power steering adjuster rod thingy. This will allow the power steering belt to have some slack.

5.) Remove ps belt and put new one on.

6.) Reverse to put back on.

Are these two engine mount bolts easy to remove?

They should be, but you also run the risk of snapping one of the bolts in the bracket like what happened to me. But I think the previous owner had the car in for service and they overtorqued it.

Thanks. Mine's overtorqued too. I'm literally drilling one of the two bolts (14mm) out. Still no luck.

you should support engine from the bottom that should make it easier spray some pb blaster it should go loose... lift the engine slightly so it will remove some tension on those bolts
