2001 CL dies/stalls when coming to a stop or slowing down

Hello fine people. I have a 2001 CL with 153,000 miles on it. Every so often (about every couple days) my car will die out on me as I approach a stop. The car is usually warm when it happens. All the lights on the dash come on, radio still works, the engine just dies. I wait a minute or two and it starts right back up like nothing happend.

I had the IAC valve replaced and the throttle body cleaned and it still happens. My shop keeps taking a look at it but it will never die when they have it, so they can't really get a feel for what I am experiencing. I've taken it back to them twice after they replaced the IAC and cleaned the throttle body and they still don't know what's going on.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Maybe? I'll ask them about it. Would that cause the car to die out when running? Forgive me but I don't know much about cars hence the reason I am here.

Any other ideas? I really need help as I am afraid to drive it around for fear it might die on me at any time.

Could it be electrical?

Today I went to another shop and he said it might be the fuel pressure regulator and power control module kit... Together run over $1000.

Ouch!

I really need some help here guys. I would appreciate it.

I think you have very similar problem to me. 2 weeks ago, I changed idle valve and clean up the throttle body. It was ok for a while but today the engine is turned off. It is always off in slowing down not in hign speeding. I don't know what I should do. My car is 2002 CL-S (66,000miles).

Maybe the problem is power control module kit because my car's condition is very similar of your car and I can hear some electric sound like "Geee..." when I turn handle to right or left just after starting engine. I can hear the sound only in the moment just after starting engine. I cannot hear it on driving.

That "GEEE" is from air getting in the power-steering system I think.

I keep hearing about this idle-dying problem and I've experienced it with my car. Mine is usually caused by a vacuum leak when I have to leave my CAI filter off to dry. I would check for leaks in the air intake or improper installation of the airbox.
Other suggestions are IACV and EGR cleaning.

Possibly clogged EGR ports or the EGR valve is clogged. Also, the torque convertor clutch could be stuck engaged while coming to a stop causing it to jerk to a stop. I'd go with EGR though.

There is a TSB for the Fuel Pressure Regulator... read it and follow the diag steps. Fuel cut is 1200+rpm when coasting down to a stop

I have a 2001 Acura TL and I am having this same issue.

Did anyone ever figure out what it is? I completely replaced the throttle body as well as all the sensors that are attached twice. I have fine fuel pressure, but two or three times a week, without fail, my car dies just as a am approaching a stop light or stop sign. I have tried fuel injector cleaner, full tune up (air filter, oil and oil filter, spark plugs), and tried cleaning everything up around the intake manifold, but still, it keeps happening.

Replacing the throttle body was silly. Did you check the fuel relay?
