2001 Acura CL going in limp mode
I replaced the timing belt today on my girlfriends 3.2 CL type S. I have never worked on an Acura before but figured this would be no problem, damn that crankshaft wrench. Anyway, I did what I could to make sure when I replaced the belt that the cam gears maintained TDC along with the crank. I did not unplug any connectors during the process and was very careful during the reassembly. Now it seems to be going into limp mode, sounds like it has a 2-step on it at about 3000 rpms. Can anybody give me some pointers on where to start looking for the problem? Is it possible that one of the cams is off a tooth? FYI it runs perfectly smoothe before the "2-step sounding" mode.

Usually a vacuum line being disconnected would result in a fluctuating idle, not an artificial rev limit. Timing may be screwed up.

If the timing is screwed up would it not be running like crap at any engine speed. I just can't figure out why it runs so good under 3000 rpm and as soon as it gets there hits this "rev limiter". Also, i looking at the inspection holes on the two covers and it seems as if everything goes to TDC when the dampener is at TDC. This is going off of the "1" on the cam gear closet to the front of the vehicle. Can anyone tell me what the stamped in score mark is with paint on it?

Okay guys, I finally got back into town to work on it again and noticed a CEL. p0336 or crankshaft position sensor(CKP). I also check with the local honda/acura place and before I even got out of my mouth what the CEL code was they said CKP and that it is a common occurrence on those engines. Anyway, i pulled it off and did not notice any physical damage to the wires or the sensor. Does anyone know how to check and see if the sensor is bad. I am getting an Ohm resistance through it but I am not sure what it should be and yes I know it is a magnetic sensor.

hi raw109 et al,
I have an error code for the crankshaft position sensor and I want to replace it myself. Where is it located and how easy/difficult is it to change it? If you have a tip on where to purchase it for a good price, i'd appreciate it as well, thanks.
