You say goodbye, I say hello.

Well, as some of you know already, and some of you may not, I traded in my CL-S for an Accord last Monday night. It probably seems like it came out of no where but the automatic transmission had been wearing me down for quite some time now. Every time I'd feel any kind of twitch, stutter or weird up/down shift I would stress myself out thinking here we go again. So, after looking around on line for a few days and test driving a CL-S6 (that I would've bought if it wasn't for the poor condition), I ended up finding my new car. 2003 Honda Accord Coupe 6MT. 34k miles, factory navi, one owner, Honda Certified and in pretty spotless condition. I picked it up for $15,800, which I think is a pretty good deal, and they gave me a decent trade-in price. So, here's Clarisse's last picture taken at the top of Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, along with some of the new car.

Well, there's the obvious. The CL is definitely more luxurious. The seats are 10x more comfortable in the CL and there's not as many rattles as the Accord. Believe it or not there's more leg and head room in the Accord. I like the interior lighting better in the Accord. The Accord seems to have less body roll and the suspension is ever so tighter, less floaty than the CL. Other than those differences it's pretty similar over all.

Of course the 6 speed makes it a lot more fun for quick sprints from stop signs, but in the same regard it was nice being able to just mash the accelerator pedal to the floor on the highway and the CL would just go, now I have to try to find the right gear for what speed I'm going and hope I get it right. I'm sure it'll just take some getting adjusted to. I've also had some issues getting used to the clutch engagement out of 1st gear. It's a really sensitive release and catch so again something to get used to.

I've got a lot of positive feedback from people who've seen the Accord in person. The CL seemed to get less attention but I'm thinking it was because it was silver and the Accord is red. I did get a lot of people trying to race me on the street with the CL but I think that was due to the rims. Keeping the Accord mostly stock looking, so no rims or lowering.

AEM V2 is the only mod going on the Accord. Maybe next month.

it's too bad you didn't find a good deal on the cl-s6, but still a nice ride nonetheless.

You know Ron, honestly it's really hard to tell if it's faster or not until I take it to the track and get some times. The damn thing is so quiet it's really deceiving. I think I'm not going that fast and I look at the speedo and I'm going fast. Maybe once I get an intake on it it'll "feel" faster. And no this isn't my first stick. If you look at my sig you'll see I've had more manuals than automatics. The CL was the first auto since my first car, the 72 Skylark. The CL-S6 I test drove was a breeze to drive, but the Accord clutch pedal is a lot stiffer and has a very tiny catching point. Again, also being so quiet, I constantly have to watch the tac to see my RPMs. The V2 should put an end to that.

Yeah, obviously finding a CL-S6 would've been an easier transition since I knew my CL so well, but hey, something totally new is always exciting.

Ha ha, yeah yeah, I know, I have to drop it. Nah, not this time. I've been there and done that and it was cool for a while, but for me nothing beats a stock ride. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so who knows a year or two down the road, but for now I'm cool with just keeping it the way it is, at least on the outside.

But... if I was going to do something like that, I'd want it to look like this.

Thanks Ryan... nope, no name yet. I just call her the Accord for now. Got any suggestions? I was trying to think of a super hot red head but none really came to mind.

Nice, at first i was gonna say why didnt you wait for the new 3.5 accord, but later found out its used. However at that price, it is an great trade. In my mind, I take the new accord as the new CL.

Nice Ron! Looks pretty good. Although I'm not a fan of body kits the HFP doesn't look too bad. And of course those wheels are freegn awesome.

HID kit FTW...Decent redheads? What about Angine Everhart and Julia Roberts? Sorry that doesn't help much with the car name though.

I still think if this J30 puts out 240HP, there are more tricks up H/A's sleeve for the J series. (Take a look at the link below about advanced VTEC, I know some may have seen it already). Anyone know how the exhaust manifold cast into the cylinder head improves output as opposed to the CL setup? The J30A4 also has 3 way vtec.

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=659664

Maybe we will see advanced vtec in the new TL? It seems a vtec would somewhat eliminate the need for i vtec, and also enable the J series to stay sohc which it may for simplicity reasons.

Dude, that picture is awesome. That thing looks like it'll be a blast to take off road. I'll have to ask my buddy in CT what he did to his Jeep Wrangler. I know it's lifted with 33" this or that.
