My "TYPE R" style grill (DIY?)
first off, yes. I know there are no type R Acura CLs.
But I'd been wanting to do this for a while, so I figured with an extra 30-40 minutes I would do it.
Paint bought:
(1) - red
(1) - black
(1) - primer
(1)- clear coat
1. Take the grill apart
2. Tape off the sections of the grill you do/don't want painted. I basically just painted the interior section (behind the A) red, after primering it, then taped that off and painted the rest black
Then just hit the whole thing with clear coat....and put the emblems back on....
And here is how it looks (some of these pics don't do it justice)
enjoy!

Im with the above. I give credit where it is due, and you deserve it. The execution was good, I just dont like the product.
But, since Im thinking about painting my grille black to get rid of the gun metal, how many coats did you do of each? And how is it holding up?

HAHA I love how people actually block off their plates on this forum like somebody is going to steal their identity or something. You do realize hundreds of people see your plates everyday right?
Anyway, OP, I think it came out extremely well. I actually really like it

Appreciate all the comments and compliments guys!
As far as paint goes, I really didn't get anything special. I got the "Valspar" paint from home depot. It's probably the cheapest paint they have. Just sanded it a bit, primed it, put a good bit of coats down, good bit of clear, then let it cure and put it back together.
I think all in all (paint, prime, sandpaper) it cost be around 12 bucks and took about 2 hours (including sitting on the couch and watching TV while it dried)
