Yeah, this is how it came from the dealer... I don't think they knew what they had either cause I got it for just under 22k. Its got Navi too.
Either that or I got a lemon... but, if its a lemon, I get 5gs from Carfax cause it checked out as being OK. We'll see.

Just bought a silver/ebony CL-S 6M (picking it up Thursday! ) and have a 1994 Prelude as my second car (silver, of course - am I in a rut or what!)... Adding your Accord would make a nice collection, but it's the wrong color!!
As much as I love Honda Products (the CL-S is my fourth - have owned a 79 Accord and 89 and 94 Preludes ) it's hard for me to justify a third car, but have some friends that might be interested.
Send details to jimmbbo@aol.com
Best,
Jim

Very nice. Unless you modded the crap out of your lude, the CL power will be a very pleasant surprise. What year is it?
4 hondas ehh... very much like me: 81 Civc hatch (loved that car), 90 Accord EX, 99 Accord EX (obviously).
Details are on there way to jimmbbo@aol.com
As my friends have told me, welcome to the world of the V6

Got it!!!
Picked up my 2003 Silver/Ebony 3.2 CLS 6M on Thursday... AEM CAI, CT headers and mufflers, everything else is stock.
Only problem I have encountered is that I'm finding it difficult to drive with a stiffie!! :P
My first impressions-
The car is as near ideal for me as I could wish - smooth, solid power, responsive handling, excellent manual transmission, great suspension and great fit and finish. The interior is very clean and simple, and elegant at the same time... I suspect Acura coulda thrown a bunch of useless electronic gidgets and plastic gadgets into the CLS, but am glad they focused on doing what they did properly.
The styling is less recognizable than any BMW, but I love the lines - very clean and simple from any angle. A wolf in sheep's clothing. Yeah, someone might mistake it for an Accord, but the surprise will be his if he pushes the issue.
The exhaust note from the CT headers and muffler is perfect - noticeable but never intrusive, and oh so sweet as the car accelerates thru the gears!!!
Am still learning how the car behaves, but so far it is automotive royalty to me - impecable manners and elegance.
Some of the reviews I read when choosing this car mentioned the Type S had a harsh ride - maybe for some, but I find it perfect. Likewise some reviewers criticized the manual transmission as "notchy" (whatever that means), but I find just about perfect for a street car. 1st thru 4th are nearly perfect close ratios, with 5th and 6th providing smooth, quiet overdrive with enough power to still move on smartly.
Another knock on behalf of some reviewers was the clutch pressure and inability to obtain smooth shifts. I have found that accelerating to 4k RPM, stabilizing the RPM for a split second, then shifting yields very smooth shifts - It does take a bit of techique, and still may not satisfy a Rolls Royce passenger, but I find it completely satisfactory.
Have put 300 miles on the car in four days, just getting to know her habits on city streets and freeways, and am waiting for the factory recommended 600 miles before trying "hard acceleration", although the "soft acceleration" I have experienced is as smooth and silky as I could want. The engine seems to just keep on pulling - just when I think it's sounding like it might be wound up, I notice the tach is reading only 4500 RPM, still a bunch to go to the 6900 RPM redline...
She may have vices, but so far, I am satisfied way beyond my expectations

Sweet, congrats on the new car Jimmbbo.
You really like the sound from the CT Exhaust? Thats gonna probably be my next mod, just a bit hesitant cuz of the sound. Hows the sound at idle and when your cruising in 4th or 5th gear?

Just made a 400 mile trip, one tank of gas, most at 80 MPH, 29.4 MPG
Celebrated passing 600 miles on the odometer by running it up to 120... solid as a rock, and still pulling... Is one cool ride...

Chaptorial -
Thanks!! Am becoming more "at one" with the car, and she's a sweetie!!!
When I first drove a CL-S 6M with the CT exhaust, was unsure about having it installed on my car
The sound was borderline intrusive, but now wouldn't be without it (and the CAI and headers) for both the sound (marginally louder and "throatier" than stock but WAY COOL ) and the mileage (29.4 MPG averaging 72 MPH)
The exhaust sound is noticeable at idle, but not annoying, and the volume increases somewhat on acceleration (duh) but the six cylinder sound reflects its character as a precision machine, and with the radio or CD playing while cruising in 5th or 6th, is not an issue for me - Just finished a 5 hour drive, and am still grinning... Verrrry upscale!!
Since I had the system installed at the dealer, can't comment on how its noise level compares to a similar trip with the stock exhaust... All I can say is that I'm very happy with it, and have no plans to reinstall the stock setup

Ok that just about sold me.
Only thing is i'll probably wait until after the winter as to let my stock exhausts deal with the salt and everything else that goes along with winter. (something you don't have to deal with in NV )
Thanks again for the info.

Think I got a decent deal - After a few days of negotiating, agreed to $28,800, plus $2k for the CAI, headers and exhaust... Next best price I found was a bit north of $30k for the car alone...
Went back and forth about buying a "new" car that was a year old "already". Finally decided that since it's the last production year for the car, and the warranty starts on purchase, and I liked the car, it made sense to me to do the deal instead of trying to find a good used CL-S.
Was also running out of options, especially with a manual transmission... "New" ones are relatively rare, and buying a used MT created some heartburn about how the car was used. Figured what the hell, it's only money!! Glad I did it... the Acura folks are GREAT to work with - a real class act...

Good feedback - thanks!
I think I happened on a dealer who wanted to get the car off their flooring plan -
I suspect that the longer the car is on the property, it accrues interest expense on the dealer's flooring plan, which may incent them to reduce the price to clear the car from inventory and get it off the flooring plan... They were much more amenable to negotiating than the three other dealers I had dealt with to that time who were firm in the $30-31k range. Right place at the right time, maybe -
As of 11/29, Consumer Reports indicated that the CL-S 6M dealer invoice is $28,159 plus $500 transportation, minus $917 in factory to dealer incentives, for a wholesale cost of $27,742, plus whatever flooring costs have accrued. (Have no idea what that number would be - maybe there are some finance guys who can add to the discussion).
If you want contact info for the dealer, let me know at jimmbbo@aol.com, and I will forward it....
Best,
Jim
