Mike's 01Cl-S So Far

Well I thought I should share some pics and info on my car so far.

Bought it January 2012 from Carmax.
95k
Warrantied til 150, lets hope the trans blows before that
It now has 104k
I Believe it has been painted and in an accident, the front plastic where the fogs are has overspray, the grill has overspray, and the airbag doesnt match the tan of the dash, and the right door is harder to close. So I'm pretty sure its been hit in the right front.
It has scratches on the rear left bumper from before I had it.
Interior is in great shape.
Its from California and is rust free!

Not much more I can really say about it so heres mods and pics, tell me what you think and thanks for the help so far guys !!

Mods I can think of.

Tenzo DC-5 18" Wheels
Dunlop Direzzas 18/40/225
Yakima Roof Rack for my bike, I BMX and occasionally ride my single speed specialized carbon road bike.
K&N drop in filter
Tinted Fogs
Debadged and Blacked out A trunk emblem
Color match front grille
Wether its a mod or not, I have some spacers between my mufflers to get some more sound from my car, but planning for Magnaflows.

Tint
Rear-Limo
Rear fixed-10%
Fronts-20%

Interior
Double Din
Kicker Wiring
Hi-Fonics 1000w amp
2 Rockford Fosgate P3S 10"
Wink Mirror

Near Future goals are:
Magnaflow Mufflers & Resi
Tein Coils
CAI
Another Bike Carrier

Possible...
Paint
Sway/Struts
Black interior pieces
Connect my radio steering wheel harness stuff
Mount bass booster knob somewhere
Tint Rear Lights

I kinda want 18' OEM wheels, these gold rims are a little ricey and I like taller OEM wheels on cars.

Pic of when it had plasti dip black wheels

Dusty

4x4

Just did the fogs

?

Nice ride man. I'd definitely lower it some. Would look more aggressive if you did.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it !

A little interesting piece of info... My father actually owned a 01 or 02 Cl-S in 2004 with 20k , had the trans went bad and had it replaced, then shortly after traded it. But I remember as a kid I absolutely loved it. So when it came time to buy my second car I bought this one . He now has a 2006 Z06 Vette pushing around 500hp .

I picked up two more bike trays yesterday before work, I'll post a pic sometime soon .

Thumbs up

Alright guys, the coilovers are now installed
Although I almost lost some fingers to a floor jack that decided to come down at mach 5 . I threw it away and invested in a low profile craftsman jack.

Cheater pic, its in my driveway halfway, I need to relocate that bumper tab its chewing my tire :l

Sitting in walmarts parking lot , I need to lower the back down just a little bit more. The fronts already sketchy low imo, i cant even back into my driveway unless I come at a angle. Its scraped twice from just dips in the road.
Handling is so nice though .

And this one just cause it looks sweet

Thanks !
I actually went with Function Forms. I got them off craigslist off a 2002 accord.
They actually ride very nice, sporty and stiff/high enough to do spreedbumps.
I'm very impressed with how they feel .

Mike! OMG! Please write me a full on review of these coils as they are what I want for mine. Did you get the type 1 or 2? How is the compatibility from the Accord model? Looks effing great man!

Thanks dude !
Tyler they compatable with both the cl 01-03 and the accord 98-02 straight across. Nothing special needed. I didnt replace anything they just bolted right on. I hear no "clunks" or banging or rubbing(and my back seats are gutted still so they really arent making any sounds.) The only reason I know the front bumper tab rubs a little is the tire is a little chewed up. It drives like a go cart now and sticks to the ground very nicely. Went from being able to hit the on ramp to the freeway I drive up everyday from 44mph to 50mph safely. I drive a 37 mile round trip daily and I'm very happy with the ride. I drove a crown victoria before this so I understand a decently comfy ride, the cl is now sporty comfortable. The only time I actually notice it is stiff is when there is a harsh change on the freeway like over bridges where the road drops or whatever. And speedbumps. They are type 1's, they were barely used and I paid 400 for them off some guy. Very happy. Hope that's a good write up .

Mines used.
But you can get them online, dicks sporting goods, REI, outdoors type stores.

I have 48" bars
Q92 clips fit the cl if you go with Yakima.

I guess your right, it is kinda cool to have the only modded cl in your area. I rarely see a modded cl the right way around the area. most cl's i've see near by are not very tastefuly modded.
I saw one the other day that i think belongs to a girl, well i least i hope it belong to a girl. It had a two tone color theme going on with the top of the car being pink and the bottom silver with some kind of gay shiny flakes. I also believed it had the ron jon plow lip kit on, or one that looked like it. Might of been an ebay kit.

The only other modded CL I've ever seen is Brian6speed when he came to KC for the Natl meet and one of the techs at the local dealer has one. The CL community is definitely a small one. A lot of my friends had never even heard of the CL until I bought mine. Granted now they all have an extreme appreciation for my car, knowing how few there are modded out there.

Mike how do you like the suspension now that it's been on there for a bit? How's the ride?

Ha same for me, nobody knew what a CL was. Now they spot TLs everywhere but still not CLs.

I'm gonna say I still like it. If it was any softer I'm sure I would scrape too much. It rides sporty, but I like it. It feels good, I mean its stiffer, But good. I have probably went threw a tank of gas already. I could probably deal with it being slightly more stiff, but really I have to say its exactly what I was looking for. Nevada has decent roads, but in spots where its bumpy it feels like a go cart .

Well, Still coming along slowly but surely.

changes/mods updated.

Mud Flaps delete
Blacked out center console wood, and silver piece around the shifter, chrome door frame pieces and door handle.
HID PIAA bulbs in trunk and license plate
Resonater intake removed
Lowered rear coils about 11 full spins
Lowered front coils about 6 full spins
Cut bumper tabs
Roof rack currently off, but I added square instead of 6 sides bolts to the carriers and wind fairing.

I have a new fancy SRS light on too ! and my car is 11 years old so its not warrantied ! awesome

First two pics rear is lowered 11 full spins , last pic was last night as i made a drive to wallmart with the front lowered 6 full spins. Might do the rear slightly more still, i dont like front being lower than the rear at all. Especially cause I dont wanna rake my oil pan :p

I need a lip kit , someone sell me one , preferably the tl one .

I like white too , but lately I've just been paying alot of attention to auto detailing. White reflects all light so its less like a mirror imo. I like how blue and black is soo deep like a mirror :o

looking great mike, the lower drop really made a good difference!

the SRS light issue should be covered for the life of the car. The issue is likely related to the seat belts and covered for a lifetime warranty, not 10 yrs or 150K miles like others may have said. If you do not have a copy of the notification letter, a call to Acura Customer Relations couldn't hurt. This thread should also help you:

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-problems-fixes-70/srs-indicator-light-warranty-extension-478199/

I've owned 2 CL's, both times the dealer replaced at no cost and without fear of a diagnostic fee. Other members have had different luck, so call ahead before to see what your dealers may say on the matter.

again, if it's the seat belt issue causing it (which it usually is), it is a lifetime warranty Mike.

10 years, 20 years, doesn't matter.

Still have not tracked down the SRS light problem.

But I shot some pics last night with some friends, as well as my friend george who has a sweet camera. Hopefully I get ahold of what he shot too

DHOOPTY. 91 Escort GT . lowered, wheels, exhaust, mazda seats, intake

I need mufflers and more agreesive rear end .

Focus ZX3 , built suspenision, fully built zetec engine waitng for turbo, mtx swap, tons of mods.

Plans currently on my wheels is to bald out the tires and than either :
Powder coat my tenzos while I drive on stocks, bolt up some spacers
or
Buy more agressive rims. 18x8.5 up front 18x9 or 9.5 in the rear .

I want to get camber kits I'm really leaning into the group buy .

These are all pics shot by George.

Vegas

NYNY

Myself left, Aaron right, he drives the egt.

Fatface

NYNY, MGM, Monte Carlo . Las Vegas . Taken from uptop the ARIA garage .

Sorry for the fuzziness, I copied off facebook

Oh and Tyler, Review after like 5k on the used coilivers...
Front seems a little too soft for my likings now, I slap over rolling bumps. For instance going over the railroad tracks where it falls off a little or something, I'll scrape. But that's all part of the game

Update (Lackin' pics sorry !)

I did a full led conversion . Fogs, reverse, dome lights, door lights, pass and drivers spot/reading lights . trunk and license plate .

Peeled off the yellow tint on the fogs, new lights made them look green .

Dipset sold me black trim that goes around the radio , but havent recieved just quite yet .

Ordered my polishing kit, swirls shall be no longer . Choose for the porter cable / meguiars combo off autogeek .

Might be getting some OEM CL floor mats, mine look like garbage and are not even for the car .

I made a 360 mile trip to Zion National park the other day , 28.1 mpgs !

Header has a flat spot in it , looking to replace that sometime .

Mounted my amp control knob by the dash dimmer , no wires shown (basically) and no screws, double sided tape yeah .

Just rolling into 111k , can't believe I've put 16k on her in only 9 months .

Pics soon to come .
