Help With Rims and specs

Hey,

I have a 2003 CL and I want to get 19" rims for it. My question is what are the specs that i need so that the rim dosent stick out on the side of the car making it look stupid? Also, will 19s rub..( i have not lowered the car at all)

Thanks

I have 19x8 wheels and im lowered w/comptech springs, the wheels are a +45 offset...i dont have any rubbing issues at all. +45 if proabaly the lowest offset you would wanna have and 8" wide is about as wide as you can get a wheel and not worry about rubbing, you should have any rubbing issues w/o lowering, but i can tell you w/ 19's it will look like a 4x4 w/o lowering it...i was happy with the comptech springs till i got the 19's...i'd recomennd the Tein Coilovers.

Why weren't you happy with your springs after you got the 19s put on? Did they raise the ride height that much, or was the gap in the wheel well increased? Just wondering cuz I'm looking into some 19s too. Oh...your rides phat by the way.

it didnt really make the gap bigger, just made the car higher in general. Im sure you can find pics of someone w/stock wheels and comptechs and then look at my pics and you will see the difference. Although Nickys car looks lower in the rear than mine and he has the comptechs too! Not sure how much all the stuff in his trunk weighs but that might be why it looks lower. If you look at the pics posted by Mr.Big, you will see why i want to go lower..his car is sick!

i first had CTs springs like everyone else...i lowered the car b4 the wheels and once the car was lowered, i instantly regretted it...it was like a 2 finger gap in the front and 2.5 finger in the rear....w/ 19s although the specs say that the diameter of the wheel will be the same as stock, its different in real life. So, i quickly changed to TEIN coils and i am happy every since...i have achieved the PERFECT drop and ride quality since the dampers are adjustable....With 19s u need to have a no finger gap...i cant even stick my index finger inside the fenderwell... it wouldnt look right...the car would be higher off the ground....

my rears rubbed alot, untill i had the fenders rolled....its becasue of the height of the drop i have....im sure if i raised it up, the rubbing would disappear, but since i wanted to maintain "the look" i rolled the fenders instead...its was not that much, maybe about a 1/4 inch up....thats all i need for clearance...now, only during hard cornering, will i get some minor rubbing.....As for the height, i beleive u can lower up to 4 inches....but be mindful, going beyond 3 will cause more problems than u ever wanted, esp. with 19s! GOOD LUCK...and dont 4get to post pics

I have not put my Teins max height but by the looks the car would be higher than stock with the perch raised all the way. I have them about 2/3 the way down and it's finger width around 18's. Regarding ride, I drove my CLS on Teins+18's form Oregon to Florida (ended up being ~6,000 mile drive over 2 weeks) and it was awesome. Even the g/f enjoyed driving the car for thousands of miles. The adjustability of the Teins is well worth the extra few bucks. For ref my rims are +45 w/ 225/40 tires and winding through S. Dakota / Wyoming netted 0 rubs.
