DLntheCL's lip kit build
been planning this for a little while but i never liked certain things about the TL lip kit a lot of guys have, but when i found the infamous ebay lip i had a plan....
most dont like this lip with the cut-outs because it "frowns" so i went to lowes/home depot and got a 1 1/8'' strip of vinyl moulding. i wanted something that could bend but also was sturdy, this fit the bill. i used this to fill the void of the "frown"
i still have plenty of body work and sanding still to do, this was just a weekends work. im going mold the kit on seamless. im going with wings west rear (i like it better than OEM) and sides are still TBA, im not a huge fan of TL sides, some look good, some dont, so not gonna use them
as far as the ebay lip, with a little dremeling it fits on really well. i noticed before i tweaked it, the fit was too tight and made the frown even worse cus it was bending itsself. after cutting and taking the pressure off the sides it relaxed and "flattened" out.

before i used glass filler this is what the vinyl strip (painted black) looked like. i used plenty of epoxy and 7 brackets so its not going anywhere.

wings west rear lip came in today. i know everyone has been cutting theirs into 3 pieces, i was set on doing so as well but when fitting the kit on i liked the idea of just chopping off the ends better, i will epoxy the "caps" back on to give it the finished look. side skirts i used strait bars of vinyl. i had to cut them at an angle to match the downward shape of stock skirts. these skirts are now strait down, dont point in or out and dont stick out past stock skirts. everything has been epoxied and screwed down (i find this to be just as good as clamping if not better.) ill fill in holes with filler when i mold these in. i plan on smoothing out the hard edges of the side skirts as well.
still cant make up my mind on paint

On the backside you must cut it at an angle fit it to sit flush against oem sides but be perpendicular to the ground.....I'll take a pic

not a whole lot, its been raining/hailing/freezing temperatures last week so havent gotten to do much. today(if weather permits) i plan on finishing bumpers with the finishing filler (evercoat rage extreme). im still waiting on sandpaper/sander. i also ordered this a product called presta scuff stuff for bumpers and spoiler, supposed to work well as far as removing clear coat/paint on plastics.
i still have plenty of work to do but kinda at a stand still till everything else arrives. lll keep updating, as long as i have some good weather and warm days i want to be done with everything before march

did some sanding today, still have drivers side to do. major bump for scuff stuff, shit works wonders. paint colors change every few days but i think im set on BMW Laguna Seca Blue, and going to paint the wheels white. i think it will look really nice with the light blue tint
i really like the car without the spoiler but since i permanently removed 3rd brake light i need a spoiler with brake light. chances are going to keep OEM but with clear brake light, and going with 03 tail lights. keeping 01 headlights and fogs (with no bulbs right now)

Thanks man, yeah sometimes it's hard to believe im going to have a diff color car, but it needed work. I think i counted 21 dents/small repair areas including both doors, both fenders and both bumpers, none so big to create a huge eye sore but enough to want everything fixed and fresh paint on whole car. The only thing that sucks is my choice of season to do this. Depending on weather I hope to primer and final stages of paint prep next week.

things are coming together. side skirts are finished, front lip is finished, still have some shaping and sanding to do on the rear. ive been toying with the idea of a front chin spoiler, mainly to protect the lip. i dont want that cheap adhesive rubber strip and since no one makes one for our car i did a little research and found that many people have been making them out of alumalite, same material that highway signs are made out of. i can get a 1/4" 4'x8' sheet local for 150 bucks. before taking the plunge i went to lowes and got 1/4" sheet of plywood and made a mock-up to see how i like it, how it looks and to have a template for all of my mounting holes. i couldnt mount it on my car cus its snowing outside but ill snap some pics with it on asap. the subaru is just an example of the look im going after. i was going to extend the chin past the lip but it just hangs slightly outward, i may bring it out an inch or so in the front. not sure yet
