Supercharger Dyno - CLS 6speed with CT I/SC/H/BP/E

This last Wednesday, I got my 2003 CLS 6speed back from Acura of Pleasanton with the CompTech S/C installed. Today, I made a trip to CompTech to have them inspect the installation of the S/C and do a dyno.

Here's what's installed:
 • CT Intake and S/C
 • CT Headers
 • CT B-pipe
 • CT Axle-back exhaust
 • CT Quiet Tips (they were removed after the first two dyno runs and will remain that way unless the exhaust noise starts bugging me)

Results:

Today's dyno with the S/C installed and without quiet tips: 305 WHP, 262 FT-LBS TQ
Today's dyno with the S/C installed and with quiet tips: 296 WHP, 256 FT-LBS TQ
Original dyno back in October 2003 without the S/C but with I/H/BP/E: 236 WHP, 201 FT-LBS TQ
I haven't had much road time yet in the car with the S/C installed, so I don't have much to report on yet except to say... I can't believe how much torque and power is available at just about any RPM. It's now a whole different driving experience.

Acura of Pleasanton has done all my mods up to this point and so far they have done excellent work.

Pics and videos of dyno runs at CompTech

Forgot to mention, I'm running stock wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/50ZR17s. Also, it's 305 WHP, but I bet with a few more dyno runs, I could have seen a few more ponies...

Oh btw, driving back from CompTech, averaging 70 MPH, I got 30 MPG. Of course I wasn't putting my foot down... had it on cruise control.

Incredible #s. I hope to get back for a dyno this week at Comptech to see what the B-Pipe added. I'll be happy with 275

That looks great!!!

That difference with the tips makes me wonder what my car would have made with a good cat-back system. I'm still running through the stock pipes.

It seems to me like the car would be puttin less hp to the ground w/ the quiet tips in then if he had stock exhaust right???

The personal debate is if I go with Comptech, Greddy or just design my own. I think the later may be the direction I take using Borla equipment with these tips:

That is unknown but a possibility, albeit not probable. I thought there were some dyno's with the Comptech exhaust and quiet tips versus the stock exhaust and the exhaust still made some more power??

Very Impressive!

The 30 MPG statement is even more impressive.

Does Borla sell these mufflers universally. I can't find'em. I found they're universal mufflers and they're universal tips but not mufflers w/ these tips on them allready. And the problem is we don't have much room to play w/ under there and these tips alone are like 12inches in length. Plus are they adjustable in sound like the Z28 catback system??

No, they would need to be purchased individually. I haven't looked into this in depth...

Borla is very good, used them on a 300zx turbo I had a while back. Why do you want to use them for low noise ? Don't forget I have a complete CAT back on my car, and we can try it 1 day on yours. I think you have at least 20-30 hp more just getting your stock system off. Heard the Resanator on stock goes down to 1 1/2 inch for noise reduction.

I have always preferred the Borla sound over others. But I am unsure how well a custom system would sound in the end. I'm still investigating and will pursue this further when I get the IC completed.

But I may take you up on that offer of trying out the cat-back. I should be heading back to the dyno in a couple of weeks to test out the IC and more boost. I may drop the exhaust and get some numbers and may want to try an aftermarket system as well.

IMO, 20 - 30 WHP may be a stretch. I'd be happy with 10 - 15 WHP more. The resonator does drop down in size but not that small. It stays above 2 inches. The stock system isn't bad at all for most applications. But when the HP levels are increased to over 150% it does present a limitation. I was part of some flow bench and sound testing of the J32A2 exhaust system at Calsonic a few years ago.

Borla does sound diffrent. That Neuspeed was built for C/T SC CLS.
I was thinking this: Forced induction creates way more back pressure. You have other increased flow things you've done also. I kinda don't like that Y pipe at the tail end that spilts the mufflers. Your motor has to be outflowing exhaust. You would be more advised if you dealt with flow test on stock system than me. I was estimating 7-10 % HP increase, especially at higher boost. Looked at Dyno thread yours compared to cls6sp your Torque was good bit higher indicating backpressure. Just a thought. Maybe we'll see soon.

First week in February. VR said Comptech had a fitment issue with the brackets so that took more time. He said no later than next week it should be in. Then I'll be taking a trip to Orlando. I'm so excited, it feels like I'm getting new shoes
