Zeal B6 Impressions over Apexi WS with 6months of testing
I have both Apexi and Zeal B6
Apexi used for 1 year
Zeal B6 used for 6month and still going
Apexi is good for the money , but now I would get Tein instead.
However, Performance and stiffness, You can not compare with Zeal.
Zeal B6 is wayy way stiffer, Level 1 stiffnes = 3x Apexi 's .
The quality of this Coilover is very good.
Disadvantage of these, would be.
lots of noise, from Alluminun top mount........metal banging metal or like sucking a straw from rubber bushing.
GAS TANK Noise, these suspension are so stiff that, you will hear WATERING noise from your gas tank......VERY ANNOYING.
THats Street Driving.
CLEARANCE Problem, I dunno about their R&D thingy, but probably I am a first one, so guess I am the lucky prototype tester. I have clearance problem between sways bar joint and the damper.... sometimes it will hit the damper when driving hard on street.
Conclusion: Zeal B6 is the Ultimate COilover for us on TRACK/Auto-X/Race. This suspension is not intended to use on Street, If you want street, go for Zeal B2/Apexi WS/Tein SS . I hope my spring doesn't die within a year on Street Conditions like here. I used to have Tein RA on GSR......these are some stiff ass coilover, my spring die within 2 years(normal daily driving) , cost me like 400bux to buy new spring.
I have been using Zeal B6 since October 2001, right now the shocks is not as bouncy as it was......I guess the spring is more settle and softer, but still noise and clearance still remain a problem.
Right now I am considering getting Tein SS for my street, and use Zeal B6 for Track.

Yep, the Zeal b6s are indeed stiff as hell. Hey RDX, how do you know when its time to get new springs?
And I've still got to figure out how to get rid of that scraping between the damper and the sway bar link. I wonder if shaving the sway bar link would help? I haven't actually looked at it on my car, so I haven't seen how close they actually are.

mantis: I am ordering a custom-made Link..
I 'll let u know if it works....if it does.... I 'll send u one.
when the spring dies.....the car is no longer as stiff as it is....
and the feeling is like hopping and there should be noise out of spring too.

This is of course in reference to Integs....im sure the Tiens are superior to the Apexis...especially since the NS isn't offered, so the adjustable dampening on the Tiens will give it the edge.

No...not for road racing...they give up too much for the ride...which is fine by me..as long as I can lower it and it performs well-enough....I'm not complaining...my WR coilovers and Konis hugged the road...but it was waaaaay too harsh and bumpey for me....so I got the A'pexis...after all is said in done..the CL is still a cruiser.........WITH A SHITLOAD OF POWER....

around 1900 for B6
after seeing Zeal quality on the damper, ignore the R&D stuff.
I believe B2 would be a great coilover, and It won't have the clearance problem, because its way thinner damper.

I can get you good deal from them, and give you some suggestion and such.
Great choice of CL-S.......I guess you have to start learning about your ride and stuff.

RDX, have you ever gotten your hands on some "true race grade" items such as Ohlins or Penskes?
I ask because that's what a knowledgeable Subie racer recommended over the Japanese standbys (Teins, Zeals, Apexi, etc.) at a local autoX. The dude was Japanese himself so I doubt if there's a bias against the rising sun. These "true race grade" items are mucho dinero. I'm wondering if you might know if they're worth the expense.

Yes, Japanese brand is great for the money, if you are going for expensive shit.......there are other brands....... which cost like 2grand at least per shock.
and no I don't have the money on those 10-20k suspension.
2Sxy4YoMama : damn, u should of wait , guess you are one of us now.........hahaha Prototype B6 Crew. My friend just got the B2 for his TL-S, the ride is not as stiff, but way stiffer than Tein SS ....
almost like level 6 feels like level 3-4 B6, and no clearance problem.

I think at first I had the same impression as yours, why don't I add couple bux more to get the B6 instead.
but after the testing.......I should of get B2. right now I am still deciding which "daily" driving suspension I want to buy.
for cars like us, CL/TL/Accord
These car are made for comfort and luxury.
B6 will certainly destroy the comfort, and luxury....uhmm u can hear sounds everywhere.........most importantly "gas tank" .
so I am still questioning myself, why don't I buy some Type-R or
s2000, and mod it up, since those car are more towards performance and fun-to drive.
You won't be regret having B6, but you will say "ouch" everytime
you drive over bumpy road. and you can give a chick a ride to your massage machine, lol, you gotta see the boucing from the chicks.
hopefully they can send me my new sway bar joint soon, I hate to see scrapping on my damper......

Top Pillow Mount for me, I waited another few months to get them. Cus this suspension is originated from CF6, and CF6 front doesn't fit.

And as far as the scraping on the damper, I'm afraid to look, they looked so pretty when I first got them. Now I'm sure they are all scratched up.

I suggested you don't install them first when you get it till they fix it......... or till I get my aftermarket joint.
you don't want to look at it when it leave scrap marks.
all the B2 and B6 are from Japan.
I got mine shipped from Japan within 2 weeks
