your cl in morning startup

I want to know if your cl in cold morning espesically and normal up to temperature idles and it idles rough. Not rought like rpm suring but you can feel the roughness through your seat. Just want to check since some cars runs slightly rough and to be sure before i waste time at the dealer.

I noticed mine idled a little rough on a cold start up but I've only driven it 3 times because of the crappy weather here

After the weather gets a little better, I'm going to do an engine decarb. I've done many on other cars and it smoothed the idle out, restored lost horsepower and improved the fuel economy.

Not trying to do a sales pitch here but the engine decarbs that the dealership sells are worth the money they charge for them (usually $99-$129) . It's a difference you can feel as drive away. Luckily, I just happen to sell the products so I have the tool and the complete 3 piece decarbonization kit at my fingertips. I've done personlly about 15 cars (family, friends, aquaintances) all with very positive results.

My 6spd is kinda rough on winter mornings... But it's has a manual transmission, so it's the nature of the beast to transfer more noise, vibration and harshness to the driver

mine feels just like this too. it shakes just enough to make ripples in a cup. i had read a while back that others have this going on too. nothing to worry about unless your RPMs are >1,200. i had this happen when my IACV(Idle Air Control Valve) was screwed up.

Yeah I have 6speeda weeda so i guess it's normal since I know it not misfiring since the rpm stays steady. But yeah I doubt my valves are carbonzided since i only have 37k on the clock.

I started mine up at -1f one morning and it was definately a rough start, but nothing abnormal. Just like others, the tranny is more interesting in the cold weather, definately takes a few minutes of moving to get the gears easy to move through.

this is kinda related... does it take you guys a while before you car goes into gear...
especially on cold starts like i shift from park do drive and i have to wait like a whole second before the tranny goes into gear and the car starts moving... like if i go from park to drive and let go of the brake as soon as it goes into drive, the car wount move and in 1 sec in goes into gear and moves...

My 6spd is in the shop now for this same problem. It has only 15K miles and I'm sick of the rough idle and the power surges while accelerating when its cold. Unfortunately they gave me a 06 TL for a loaner and I'm falling in love, not to mention the fact that it's smooth as a baby's bottom on start up.

I'll let you know if they find anything out.

Mine feels good. Every now and then it's a little rough, but so was every car I owned.

I have always noticed a bit rougher ride from my front end until warm. I also have a nagging break light error that is on only when the car is cold. It is the emergency break warning light but it is not on. You guys ever get that one? It comes and goes for me.

nope, just the transmission making it's morning decision to either take a poop or act right.

when i start mine in the morning or when cold, the idle is ok but it just seems like the car slightly trembles, nothing odd or bad feeling, but once warmed up like a few minutes later its just fine. i just assumed its like that.

btw i have a 2001 with 32k miles

No roughness in the idle, but I do notice the lag with the transmission engaging.
('01 w/50k).

Mine almost always has some slight vibrations on cold startups, but nothing irregular compared to every other car I've owned. It has more to do with the motor mounts than anything else, I'd presume.

Mine is always smooth shifting, no matter the temp.

every one should feel their tranny kick a little harder in the morning or when the car is not at normal temperatures... this happens because the computer keeps the RPM's up and hold the gear for a longer time so that the car can warm up faster... so you may notice that when you take off, it takes longer to shift and at higher RPM's even though you are not pushing down on the gas that much...

I've intermittently experienced a rough startup like the car is flooded and then clears up once the excess fuel is burned up out of the cylinder. You can smell the fuel and that it's running rich. I have not thrown any codes indicating misfires either.

For mine, I wonder if I've got an injector that intermittently sticks and the pressure in the fuel system pushes fuel into the cylinder.

I notice that on cold mornings my car will slow down for a second right when the engine temp hits its ideal number. Almost like I take my foot off the gas for a second, anyone have any idea what it may be? I haven't been too worried since I don't get a check engine light or anything.
