Exclamation Is Your CL Getting Pimped This May/June? (Government Rebate Check)

Towards May/June, elligible tax payers should be getting a $600 government rebate check as apart of the "Economic Stimulus Package."

If you're getting one soon, is any part of it going to your CL??

And if so - what are ya planning there buster????

It's apart of the stimulus package to stimulate the economy!!!

Why are you people going to squander the wealth and "save it" in your fancy "savings" accounts when you should be spending it asap!!!!!!!

I think I will spend my $600. Just trying to figure out how ...

Because it's a gov scam!

I already said what I'm doing in the ramblings thread which is where this should go.

I'm going to buy something overseas so that $ doesn't go back into the US economy.

Let's see if you can still afford to buy foreign goods when gas becomes $50/ gallon this summer!!!! (OK, so more like $4.25 - $4.75)

I'm "saving" it because we all will have to pay it back next year. What I mean by that is I think 60% will be back in their pockets when we have to pay our taxes.

For everyone's reference - the $600 from the government is tax free. Meaning you're not going to need to file it next year.

For the record from the IRS.gov website (IMAO, is a bunch of crap but... and GM, lock the thread if you will...)

-And my Cl-S got totaled only after having it 2 weeks last month. Would've got pimped though.

Q. Is my stimulus payment taxable?

A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount this year but you do next year, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously received.

I'm putting my $600 towards some overdue maintenence for my CL.

Gotta change my 6 sparkies and get my timing belts checked.

Besides that, I think I'm going to get some better looking 17's than the stock chrome.

I gave that up for now. I may come back to it, but not for a while.
I spent the $ on that already so no new $ will be spent if I take it up again.
