Your 340hp "muscle car"M45 finishes 5th against 6-cylinder cars
I am not surprised. In Car and Driver
1. 530
2. new E320
3. Audi A6
4. GS 300
5. M45
6. Lincoln LS
Basically it was a 4 way tie for first and the M45 and LS should not be sold. So to all you magazine racing, think 0-60 in whatever means everything, STFU.
It's about the total package.

what do you mean "your" M45? This is an Acura site if I remember correctly.
I know a few people here really liked the M45, but I think it's a blanket statment to say that all of us like the car. I personally don't like the M45 at all

umm the m45 is a nice package at ~42k for a v8 luxury sedan. kinda rediculous how weak the other cars are in acceleration and that would be a part of the total package for me. the new ls isn't bad either.
M45= 5.7 (0-60)
GS300= 8.0
Audi A62.7T = 6.7
MB 32= 7.4
BMW 530 =6.7
Lincoln LS = 6.5 0-60
new m45 is due out in a year, i think the current one was just to fill the lineup until the redesign was ready.

The M45's dashboard is just plain ugly... like a cheap Sentra ... Black background with orange letters and numbers ... as the C&D review said ... "dashboard looks like halloween decorations" ...
Not at the level I would expect for a $40,000+ car ...

Both cars have lotsa stuff for it. Turbo for the GS by SRTis 30k, the RMM Supercharger for 10k, I have not heard any good things about it.

You do not need GS. It is not a driver's car. Even with mods. Get 540 manual. Used. 2001 or 2002. They lose like $15K after the first year. For $15K you can get DINAN SC and have around 400-415 bhp. There is also ESS SC that is just $7.5K.

I think Car and Driver has some problems as far as picking cars for comparison. Last issue it took a Altima 3.5SE against many four cylinder family sedans, this time it took a M45 against the six cylinder ones. The funniest is that Nissan/Infiniti vehicles almost never got higher than the third place in the comparsions. When almost all other car mags picked G35 over bunch of other sport sedans, Car and Driver still ranked it under BMW, Audi, and Acura. And you know what? Mercedes Benz and BMW almost always beat the Japanese and American ones. That's why I never agree with its results. They should not picked cars from different class in the first place. If you compare M45 against E500, you would realize that there is a $13,000 difference between the MSRPs of the base model of these two V8 luxury sedans, and you have to consider this high value of Infinitis.

I owned TL-S for about a year. Traded it because of transmission and head-light theft issues (I live in NJ). Currently driving 2002 540ia with sport package. 540 handles better that TL-S but is not much faster. I took it to a E-TOWN last November and ran alongside with Acuras. My best time was 9.3/76mph (1/8 mile). Some 6-speed CLS got 9.0. My time was with a traction control on. W/out TC I lost traction in 2nd gear and could not recover. Just kept smoking tires all the way to the end. Will put better tires this year and try again. As to sports cars vs non-sports. Manual tranny should be offered at least as an option. That supports the image. Then - how the car feels. I test-drove GS430 several times and it was too soft and floaty. Steering was not as connected as TL-S's either. From what I heard GS430 with L-tuned suspension and steering ECU handles at the level of 540 non-sport. But it does not really matter. Lexus has great image but it is a luxury car's image.

I think the m45 is awesome. Prolly isnt a hot seller, its almost too late to try to enter that market that is so dominated by bmw and mercedes. Plus, m45s nearly cost as much as the Q45.
