Yokohama AVS ES100
Yokohama AVS ES100
Who has them and how do you like them? I am making a decision this week between Yokomama's (ha ha) or the T1-S. If anyone has had both I would love to hear from you. Performance, road noise, and tread life are really what I'm looking to compare.
Thanks..
Thanks..

I have 225/45/17s got them for $105 a tire on tirerack. They are a huge improvement over stock, no more squeeling around turns. The road noise is just as good as stock. The performance in the rain is awesome. It has been raining the past couple of days here and it hasn't slowed me down a bit. I can still drive fast and take turns fast. The tires are W rated at up to 169mph and trust me I've done 145mph on these tires no problem. Treadlife isn't as good as stock but its shouldn't be with this type of performance tire. The tread pattern looks very aggressive and I have had compliments by friends on my new tires. I looked at the Toyos but couldn't justify the extra money for them when the Yokos are just as good.
IMO these tires are the best bargin out there!

What kind of tires are the Yoko's and Toyo's? What is the difference? Are they all season or just performance summer? Any info on the two would be appreciated. I would like to swap out my stocks but don't know with what.
what's the tread life rating on the ES100's.
I was looking at them last night myself. I've heard good stuff from several Integra Type-R owners. But I seem to remember that Yokos tend to wear extremely fast.

And forget about tracking in poor weather. It's been drizzling around here. Road was a little slick this morning. Tires had no traction. Terrible.
I am a relative newbie compared to the expertise on this forum. I actually thought that they would last for up to 50,000 miles. So much for that idea!

They have always squealed, which I hate. Taking corners really sucks, and they do seem comparatively loud. (But I can't really say for sure, because I have only has the stock tires.)

MXM4s -->
High gas mileage (eco-tire)
Hard rubber (they generate good G #s on surfaces with a lot of "tooth" and are pretty slippery on certain types of road surfaces)
Designed for long life (some people do seem to get a lot of mileage from them).
Multiple sidewall bubble sightings
IMO, way overpriced...
If you can find your way to the various "popular" (High Performance/Max Performance) tires used around "here", the squealing, stick, and poor wet weather problems should disappear and really improve the car's handling and safety...
How do these tires compare to the Kumho Ecsta 712 in similar size. I have heard good things about both and they seem to both be bargins for their prices, (around 90-100 a tire). Are they both 3 season, or is the Kumho driveable in snow. How is the kumho's wear and agressive look compared to the Yoko's. Thanks
The yokos are great, the stock tires squeel so much, the agressive tread design on the yoko looks amazin. I got them last week and have had time to test them, now it doesnt feel like my tires arent going to hold on when taking turns at 50mph (when those turning lights hit yellow it means go faster not slow down).
I am on the verge of ordering the 225/45 ES100s since I need tires and they look great spec-wise.
How important is the 3season-only part of the equation?
There is a good chance of snow where I live for three months or so. They plow the roads fine though. Does this mean if I got those tires I magically just CAN'T drive it? I don't see how it's any different than rain when it's melted and the road is plowed...
I am about to buy them but they are sold out at Tirerack until November 8th so I have some time to make sure these are the tires to get.
I'm sure ANY new tire is an improvement over my almost-bald 36k stock tires, so brand new ES100s should be an IMPROVEMENT in bad weather handling.
Really though, what's so bad about wintertime in 3season tires that handle rain well?
