yo.. just bought a CLS

haha, i havent even taken pics of it yet (no sun)

but today i picked up a 2003 CL type S 6 Speed
taffeta white
parchment interior
no nav
21k miles

the previous owner dropped it, put on rims and an intake.

so, ive got yellow springs (H&R??)
19x8 ACE 5 spoke rims
235 35 19 daytona tires..(ergh)
and a half of a cold air intake... the cone is where the stock box would be.

ill take some pics tomorrow ... maybe someone can tell me the brand of springs and intake i have.

The intake is probably an AEM short ram....it is NOT a CAI. BUT, you should be able to tell what the intake brand is, it will say on the tube, OR it may be a generic tube inset...
The springs are not H&R...all their springs have a dark charcoal coating....I think Neuspeed has a yellow coating on some of their springs (their race series, to be exact).

WELCOME to the club

i payed a shade over $20K.. which i think is fair cause i saw comperable cars with twice the milage sell for 25-26..... am i wrong. if i am.. i dont care, caus this is one nice car. on top of that, my plans were to just drop it, and tint it.. possibly get rims, and just keep it stock to have as a daily driver cause i have enough fast cars... not that this one isnt fast, but it cant quite compare to a 600HP Stealth.

ive wanted a 6 speed CL since they came out in 2003.. so im extremely happy.

so, yeah.. i know i dont have a CAI.. but i couldnt think of a better term for it at the time (not much sleep).. other than "half a cold air intake"... speaking of that... i think its a generic, cause i see no name on it. but when the car is idling there is a very loud humming, that goes away when the RPMs are raised... is that common with this motor? ive never quite heard anything like it before.

so.... anyone recognize the drop? i really wanna know the make of the springs.

thanks

Is the sound a sort of a ticking noise? If it is, it's just the fuel injectors....they are noisy as hell on these cars

Nice Ride, TW 6 MT . Humming noise or Hissing noise ? I have never heard the Short Ram on the Jseries engine, but I know my AEM CAI hissed like a mofo. Also if humming it could be the exhaust, the stockers put out a little hum at idle.

Ass is too low for an H&R drop...that is either the Neuspeed race drop, or perhaps coilovers

tyanks for the warm welcome!

im sure that the humming is the intake... it goeas away about 2K rpm.. and its coming from the intake.. not the exhaust.

also, i know i dont have coilovers... i already looked.

as for mods.... this is it. the only thing i would do is swap the intake i have now for an AEM piece or similar... and MAYBE get exhaust. i bought this car as a daily driver that is stilll pretty quick, and isnt something im ashamed to walk up to in a parking lot.... and its surpased all my expectations a long time ago!!

haha, people look at me funny when i give them a ride and tell them that this is my slow car
