xlr8 highflow cat

..im about to redo my exhaust on my CL just wanted to know what you guys think about dropping $300 on the xlr8 highflow cat. Im going to go with Magnaflow mufflers, magnaflow 14" resonator, and 2.5" piping from the catback. I just want to know if it will alter the exhaust note significantly or if it will be about the same without it.

thanks

Try it out and get back to us. How are we supposed to know?

I would love to hear the sound though.

If you want an easy bolt in affair, go for it. If you want to save some money, get a universal 2.5" at and weld that in instead.

Thanks fellas. So there isn't any difference between this xlr8 and any other highflow except the fact its bolt on. What about the magnaflow universal "race only" cat?

I hate mine. Too loud & aggressive for my tastes. Only replaced cause my stock 1 crapped out. What condition is your stock cat in? Maybe we can trade? PM me

Are the hi flow cats any quieter than the cat delete or about the same ?

I would like more flow myself but, I don't want to change the sound of my car dramatically and right now I think it sounds perfect.

I have ct icebox, headers, mufflers and xlr8 cat and to me it is really quiet not much difference over stock but maybe that is just me. Only thing that i would say is annoying is the slight drone i get only at 2k rpm.

IDK. Same mods. I hate it. Sound changed dramatically on my car. Also moved the drone to anywhere from 1500rpm -3500rpm.

it went from being a loud ricey drone without it to a nice subtle tone with the resonator. nva-av6 ordered it for me when he did my exhaust i would have to check with him on the size.

it does make it louder, noticeable but not significant though (i got comptech headers and an apexi exhaust btw)

would i get it again, see below \/

but would i do it again, probably not, i would just go the more universial route (and shit it still needs a defouler to keep the ecu happy)(then also you got to find new gaskets [since the stock ones are a little small btw], since they are not included either

btw i would keep the stock cat especially if you got to pass emissions like i do here (mines in the closet/storage outside)

and to tell you the truth as fuzzy said, i would also be willing to sell you mine (PM me an offer); basically so i could go the universial route

high flow cats are going to be quieter then a test pipe, but then again you could also always put a resonater in place of the stock cat to help keep the noise down some

you are also S/C'd though, which does not help the matter at all (since you are moving more air to start with anyways)

what do you guys think about if i was just to keep the stock piping and just get the universal cat, resonator, and mufflers welded in. Instead of all new piping. Im not really looking for alot of power, just want an aggressive exhaust note and plus it would save some money.

:thumbsdow, by the time you pay for all that to be done (and buying the components), you probably will have been able to buy yourself nicer components in the first place (let alone still being a butchered stock exhaust)

I wouldnt do that. I would just go the bolt on route, or the full custom piping route. Nothing in between those. By the time you add a universal cat, resonator etc you would be cutting up the stock pipe so much you might as well get custom piping made.

High flow cats shouldn't alter the exhaust note that much. It will increase flow so the exhaust will get a little louder. Keep in mind this is a 300 cell metallic core as opposed to a 1200 cell ceramic core. The flow is significantly better and the outlet and inlet are also much larger.

lol, but yeah anytime you open up the exhaust more (less restrictive components), you are more then likely going to get more noise
