I would recommend you leave the stock air box in not including the top of course. When installing my intake it made the intake more secure.

Webtoker,

Thanks for the feedback! I will include this as an option to facilitate an easier install.

Chris, at this point most of us are in no position to comment on the instructions, because we (except for Webtoker) have not had the opportunity to attempt a CAI install. I suspect you will get more feedback after we receive the product. It's good to see you back online!

hey xephyr-i was wondering how the bypass valve actually works, and does it cause any loss of performance? tia

Silver-

The bypass works by vacuum. If the filter becomes submerged in water a vacuum builds inside the induction tube. The valve has flaps that are set to open at the amount of vacuum required to draw water an inch through the induction tube. This causes air to rush in and equalize the vacuum and normalize pressure. This prevents any water from every being ingested up through the induction into the intake manifold. The valve is passive and does not do anything until the vacuum pressure is at a critical level. It does reduce performance, however, it is not to any degree that I have been able to quantify. Hope that helps

Hey Xephyr,

Where are the "holding brackets" that were burning in the test oven? I do not see any in the installation FAQ!!!! Did you ship you CAI without any of those brackets?

Well, one suggestion I have is maybe doing a manual cleaning in the intake tube itself. I just got mine today and inside the tube it's quite dirty and has some metal filings in it as well. Running your finger inside pulls out some dirt and metal pieces that I'd prefer not to end up in my engine.
