Xenon, daytime running lights

Hey guys,

I am new to the board, I just got 2003 CL types S, six speed a week ago.
amazing car. Black on black with spoiler.

I bought it from the states and brought it over to canada,
now one of the things I had to do was getting daytime running lights on it.

the thing is I notice, the lights are on full all time.
how long do these xenon light usually last for? is this really gonna kill the life of them ?
If so, do u guys know a way that I can disable this?

Once I have gotten past the inspection, I won't need them anymore.

thanks for the help.

Keeping them on all the time definately will kill their lifespan. Ontop of that, do u notice how everytime you press the alarm they turn on and off? (atleast mine did) That power on/off cycle is really bad for any piece of eletronics. Also keeping them on wastes like 100watts of electrical power which increases gas consumption.

I had to do the same in order bring my CL into canada. After inspection, i just snip the spliced ignition sense wire (green one) that goes to the relays and the DRLs wont be on anymore (headlights still function normally). I drive around without DRLs and no cop has ever noticed.

Any way just to pull a fuse that would disable them?

I also found this info on the web

'to disable the highbeam DRL for all Hondas/Acuras 1997 model year or later, just look for the DRL fuse in the fuse box under the dash. It should be a 7.5A fuse."

Since the US model of the CL didn't come with DRLs, the fuse connection for the DRL isn't connected to anything.

Arent daytime running lights usually the high beam on half or less power? In that case you would be using the halogen bulbs. Who did your daytime running lights?

I think the OP lives in Canada

I can see his IP address, so that's why I know but the rest of you folks have to guess...

I'm assuming that DRL are standard up in the great white north...

I hate it when people don't fill out their profile (location, car specs in signature, etc)...

You can purchase these type of kits http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...romSearch=true

and wire them up yourself. It shouldnt be too difficult. I was lazy and paid someone 250 dollars to do it.

hey guys, ya i am from the GTA area.
well I got mine done at the dealer, huge rip off.
they gave me some BS about voiding my warranty if i got it done somewhere else.
you can get it done at cdn tire for $180.
well ya on the CL apparently there are no DRL's and thas y they hooked up to the xenons.
i am thinking of just cutting the relay now, cause i have all the inspection stuff sorted out.

Wrong. They are the piaa yellow bulbs that most people use in their roadlamps i custom fit into the highbeam housing and then wired to a switch inside the car.
