WTF acura!!!!!!
ok i was at the movies today and when we left i saw a strange car in the parking lot
it had an acura badge at first i was like its a TSX but as i got closer i saw the EL badge on it with Ontario plates
I think that car rocks!!!!!
the exterior was decent but damn the fuckin interior kicks our ass big time. the leather was nice and the car looked much more refined then the cl/tl
i love how the shifter plate was chrome too
acura why cant we have cars like that

Oh... and for the record... the EL isn't really a re-badged Civic -- the rear and front look distinctively different (moreso for the 1.6 EL than the 1.7) I don't think... but that's just my opinion -- andI'm kinda biased....
anyway... I can't wait to drive my parents car... hope I can get one myself one day too...

I would agree that the 1.7 looks decidedly like the Civic -- but the rear doesn't look like that so much -- the 1.6 however, is diffrentiated quite a bit by a completely different front end and the rear of the car, based generally off the '97-98 Civic has white lenses at the bottom of the taillight assembly, whereas in the Civic it is yellow -- and it is also different for the back -- the lights go further in toward the liscense plate, and the trunk is different... and for the better IMO...

My uncle has one, he lives in Kanata. I've seen it a couple times. Its a 1.6EL. It looks a bit different on the outside, but from the inside its just like a civic EX. Except the steering wheel is leather. I can't imagine it has better build quality at all. The Civic doesn't have bad build quality to begin with so its probably the same. Its nothing special at all either. Just like Civic's in America, every other canadian has an EL.
In the end its just a CIVIC.

haha... I live in Ottawa... right near Kanata -- but ya... back to this thread...
the EL is much more luxurious -- more refined -- where the Civic has 1.6/1.7 Litre engines with no VTEC, we get VTEC, although SOHC...
it's still VTEC! To give you our advantages over the Civic are too numerous to list -- but still, for the price, the EL is well worth a look -- 1.6 or 1.7 -- it's the little things that make the difference -- like a better sound system... well... that's a bigger thing... we have 120 watts, good quality sound, 4 speakers, whereas the Civic doesn't have such a refined sound system. The different buttons for selecting the vent settings on the 1.6 EL are all electronic push buttons -- not the slider-type found on the Civic, and a generally more appealing dashboard layout. Now I'm not trying to make out the Civic to be a bad car -- it is a very good car -- but the EL builds on all that, running on the principles of the Civic, but expanding them for the better, hopefully...
In the US, I believe that you have a similar car to what we have as the EL -- although you don't get the different distinctive exterior, I know you also have the option of leather. The model is the one with the VTEC'd Civic -- not sure which model grade it is... it's about the equivalent, although not having some other things as well... oh well... I'm ovbiously biased... I like the EL -- 1.6 or 1.7 and stand by that car, and the car club that goes with it for our distinction, and exclusivity, in which it has brought some of the people who own EL's together, to form our community, albeit smaller than Acura-CL.com, and we have formed ClubEL.ca
To all who are ever in the market for a new car, which is about at par with the Civic, albeit an overtly upscale version of it, and has distinctive styling, all for about the same price, I would highly recommend you take a look at the EL -- wether it's a drive to your local Acura dealership, or a drive across the border
... I like the EL, and take pride in it, just as I'm sure all of you would take pride in your Acura CL.
Once again, thanks to all who approve of the EL, and thank you for your kind remarks!
