Wtf

So today I was driving on the beautiful Boston roads with 3 other people in my car and I noticed that something on my car was scrapping against something when I hit every bump, this only happens when I have my 18" wheels on and 2-3 other people in my car. Anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it.

lol, my friend it sounds like you are rubbing. there are plenty of ways to get rid of it. It could also be your wheels. I'm too lazy to explain, but I'm sure by morning the others will whoring this thread up.

Are you lowered ?? What size tires ??

Sounds like your rubbing...

Possible Fixes:

Get skinnier friends.
Don't let anyone ride in your car.
Get rid of the system in the trunk.
Go back to stock sized rims/tires.
Raise your car (ghetto 4x4 look).

The wheels are 18 X 7.5 with a 45mm offset, not lowered, and are those really my options. P.S. search was unsuccessful.

what size tires are you running?

roll/shave your fenders is a quick fix. cut bumper tabs for long term solution.

your choice.

Tires are 225/45/18, how difficult is it to shave the fenders?

raise the car, put a bat between wheel and fender, lower the car, and roll the bat from one end to another.

Don't you have to be really careful doing that so you don't bent the quarter outward?

it was a joke chris. relax. I would never do such a thing to my car.

There are tools out there for this kind of stuff. I just remember back in the day when my friend had an integra that's what we did.

Actually, that's the only way I've ever heard it being done. I didn't know.

Yeah, if you pay someone to do it, and they mess up, they'll have to fix it...

I've seen people roll the fenders over with a baseball bat and a heat gun (to heat the paint so it doesn't crack when your rolling), but it's probably best to leave it to the professionals...

The bat imo is probably the best. The wood gives a little and you heat up the fenders. That should solve all your problems.... Hey are we going to be all meeting in MA soon GreenMonster and anyone else in the area??

So I recently got my rear fenders shaved and the scrapping noise has been cut down a little. That being said, whenever I have 2-3 passengers and drive in the city the noise returns. The noise doesn't sound like its too good for the car and I don't want any problems down the road. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to stop this?

Bah, anyone who lives in mass should know that the 4x4 look is in.

Lowering my last car was the absolute worst decision I ever made. The roads here suck too much for it, and any "benefit" you might get performance wise is offset by the fact that every place you'd probably want to use that performance is riddled with potholes.

get better fitting wheels. with a 7.5" width and a +45 offset, your offset is too low. get an offset of anything between +49 to +52 and you should be fine - u probably could get a 8" width too.
