Unhappy Wrecked my '03 CL-S 6 Speed Blk/Blk

This happened on 3/26/06 - I was heading back from a long trip to SOCAL and back to VEGAS and I "hit a bump" in the road and lost control in the center median. I was doing the speed limit and I tried to get back onto the road and when I did that the car shot across the 2 lanes and hit a guardrail then stopped. The airbags did not deploy and nobody was hurt. No other cars were involved and the damage amounted to apx. $14k!! - the car is still in a shop in Victorville and should be done apx. the 10th of June. I am really missing my baby and feel terrible about what happened, it only had 25k miles on it. The insurance gave me the option to total it or repair it, I chose repair- partly because I know the production numbers for this car. Only 480 exact copies ever made. I couldnt let that go. I hope to make it to the next SOCAL BLOCK meet and show off the excellent work that I am sure the body shop is doing. 17 more days!! Either way, be safe and try to preserve these beauties if you can.

Sorry about your accident, but if the moneys weren't too bad I would have chosen to total, who wants the long-term variables of a wrecked/repaired car? It wouldn't be impossible to find another one IMO. Yours is low miles but I have only 30k on mine so there are others out there. Also resale takes a big hit.

yea i was sticking up for you for a while, but im getting tired of your lip kid. if you dont watch it a mod just might have to take care of you.

back on topic, i agree with 123456speed. your cars resale will plumate (sp?) due to a severe wreck like that. i see 03 6spds for sale everyday online. is it too late to change your mind?

it's weird how the car STILL looks sexy even with a smashed front end...

I agree with everyone else, though... a car is never the same after a major accident like that. Plus, the resale value will be quite lower if people know it was in a heavy front-end collision. Still, it's nice to see how much love this CL gets from its owner!

I wonder if you would've came out better with a Buy Back, Part Out, New Purchase scenario. I know you could've made a few pennies off me. .

Actually the way it hit the guardrail it didnt really impact the frame, that is why the airbags didnt go off I think. The front went under the guardrail and all damage was cosmetic. The engine started right up after too w/no strange noises. I dont have GAP insurance so even if they did pay me fair market value, I still had about 5k$ difference between that and my loan. I would have been out quite a bit. I am confident that the frame is fine and she will drive just fine after they repair. The shop is rated very well and I have been in constant contact w/the service manager. He got the whole front end of a white '03 CL-S from a wreck that happened around Sacramento. Now they had to paint that of course and strip all parts then reinstall on mine after some welding/cutting of bent fender supports. I will bring to next BLOCK meet and show everyone the hard work = 2.5 months!

I wouldn't be too quick to throw frame damage out the window. I was hit by a lady that ran through a red light in the front drivers side and my airbags didn't deploy and I still had frame damage and am still getting things repaired here and there after getting the car back from the body shop a couple weeks ago. About $7k total in damage.
I understand how you feel though, it would've been hard for me to total my car as well, I've got an Anthracite 6-spd.
