Would anyone add a 25 shot of Nitrous
Would anyone add a 25 shot of Nitrous
Not being very skilled or knowledgable in Nitrous would any of you consider adding a 25 shot on top of your headers, intake and any other performance parts for that extra edge? I don't know why I think this but it sounds safe to me. 25HP IMO won't kill your tranny and can bring you to 325 safely? I would consider it if it was SAFE anyone else? Or am I totally wrong, shot size doesnt matter?

You'd have a hard time finding a jet for 25 HP. IMO, if you're only gonna go 25, then it's not worth even paying for the nitrous kit. Besides, 25 HP is not gonna make that much of a difference in the 1/4 mile.
Most guys go a minimum of a 50 shot.
Like I said before: Don't be afraid of Nitrous. If properly set up and used, you can get mega performance out of your car without fear of damaging anything.

Well, after all the money spent on bolt-ons, I don't think it's worth it. You'll probably have to upgrade your tranny if going 50 shot, which would add to the bill. 25 shot isn't worth the small gain, IMO.

Tom,
Do you prefer wet or dry systems? I hear that if dry systems are not done correctly, they can destroy the engine, especially if its really close to the TB.

Eclipse,
The 25 shots will not create sufficient improvement on this car to warrant the cost of the kit and installation, not to mention I don't know if its produced in a 25 shot. Realistically, for the money you would be better spents with headers, Torque Converter, Tires, Brakes, Sways, Springs etc... The juice should be the final step in this car after you have put the vanilla bolt-on parts on. Then haveing your tranny tightened and built to withstand the power. At which point you could do a 60-100 Shot with reasonable use safely. The car would be down to the low 13's and it would perform better all around. Call me if you want to talk about it....
Tom2,
Im sure you already know this... but for everyone else's benefit....- Automobile grade NOS is mixed not pure N2O .. With a sulfur % to discourage "misuse" from pharmaceutical grade N2O...... The reason NOS gives the yellow/brown smoke...... These cars have aluminum blocks and heads to save on weight and heat dissapation , but, the introduction of N20 raises cylinder temps to their thresholds... Nothing worse then dropping a plug down into the cylinder and kissing your pistons, valves, heads, connecting rods, etc to hell. If you blow your tranny or worse a competent mechanic will see the tell-tale signs in the form of anything from scorched/fouled heads, pistons, valves, plugs, cats, tips ..-etc...- be wary ..... or very sneaky. lol

you could do a 40 shot. Thats the minimum.
and nitrous is great for the fact that it can all be removed w/o ever seeing a thing.

You won't feel a thing with 25 shots. Want nitrous, do it right like this.

I don't get it. Think about it. Headers give you about 25-30 hp for a cost of $1175 plus install. If some one were to ge get a NOS dry system and run it at 25-30 shot it would only cost about 400-500 plus install, and they can turn the system on/off whenever they see fit. Plus they would have the option to bump it to 50, 70 or whatever reasonable shot they want whenever they feel like it. This is why I'm seriously considering NOS. It is,IMHO, a very cheap and safe mod if installed/used correctly

Don't know what the trunk is like on the CLS. You mostly likely have to drill a hole. Run the nitrous line along with the OEM fuel lines. Zip ties work really well.

i did it myself. I'll email you the pics of how i ran it up.
Hey- nitrous is fine- I have used it myself back in my "street racer" days. It must be installed properly and used with care. It does, however have implications to your warranty, in my opinion. If you have an engine or trans failure that can be traced to Nox (believe me, there are telltale signs), then why should it be warranty? You know going in that it could put far more stress on the driveline than the engineers designed for- if you choose to use it, be prepared to not only go like hell, but to be responsible for all the possible ramifications. Remember, we as owners have to take some responsibility for our actions- we can't blame everything on the manufacturers! Now if a wiper motor fails and someone says no warranty because you have nox, well, my opinion is that that violates the Magnussan Moss Federal warranty Act. I say if you want- go for it. Do it right, do it safe and be careful not to hurt yourself or anyone else!
Remember - this is my opinon only
End Rant
