WOT/RPM Question ?

I got my CL-S back last weekend with the replacement tranny. Anytime i was in a need to put my foot (around 55mph) all the way down on the pedal vtec would kick in around 4000rpm with the rpm gauge continuing to go around 5000-5500RPM before it would back down.

Now with the replacement tranny, new pcm etc i noticed that the Vtec kicks in alot later somewhere around 5000rpm and keeps on going to around 6000-6500rpm before it backs down. What got me thinking was that i was able to keep up with a GS430 to about 110mph after we got off the same exit, at the red light the guy in the GS430 asked me what mods i had done to the engine. I said nothing, he said come on you must of done something to it , i told him again its 100% stock he laughed and we left at that on the green light.

So its got me thinking to why it feels like there is more power and why its getting close to the Redline, and has anyone had a similar problem ?

Or maybe i need to another Stock CL-S here in S Florida had get it taped for you guys to take a look

The dual stage manifold opens at 3800 RPM. VTEC change-over occurs at 4800 RPM. This has not changed even with a new ECU.

Thanks Scalbert.

But my question is why am i getting close to the red line, when before i was not. My driving habits are the same before the tranny was replaced.

Thanks

You should be able to take it to 7k revs. When you says "backs down" what do you mean?? Does it shift or does the power drop off??

If it was shifting around 5500rpm, no wonder you needed a new tranny Really though, I've only heard of the new tranny making a CL slower, not faster. Good shit for you though

No the power does not drop off, but your correct in saying it shifts once it gets close to 6500RPM, in what gear does it do that i don't know. Maybe i'll shoot some video to give you an idea of what i'm talking about.

If you're trying to get the most out of your engine, why are you keeping the car in full auto mode? You should use the SS and try to redline the car through every gear.

Even in full auto mode, when you go WOT, the car should redline first gear and shift into 3rd around your 6500rpm area. Of course, if you let off the throttle at all the car will assume it can upshift earlier.
