Worth Upgrading?

I have an Acura CL 2003 with a Tiptronic shifter.
What I want to know is:

Are these cars worth upgrading into a nice fast car I can take to the track? What upgrades should I look into?

Or is it just easier or better to get a cheap mustang and work with that car?

Me and a buddy of mine go to the track often and he has a mustang :p

definitely not worth it. You have a glass transmission and it wouldn't last long at the track. Plus it's FWD. Find a light RWD/AWD car to start with if your goal is the track.

Oh yeah? Any ideas on a good car that would work? Beginner friendly :P

Preferably with 4 seats. I've heard Mazda3 are pretty good

man, you're all over the place....
what is your goal?

a mazda3 is a slow 4 cylinder car. why the heck would you want to take that to the track? you'll net worse times than your CL.

you have to have an ultimate goal.
what is your goal?
you cant just pick a car and be like.....ready!
you have to take in account of the drive train, which of the wheels its being powered by, weight, and etc.

if your ultimate goal is to beat the mustang, we'll need more info about your friends ride...
what year is it? auto or manual? etc

97 cl 3.0 premium. Its my daily driver but im looking for a decent gain in hp. Just enough to get out in front of traffic on my way to work. Just had the intake of to clean out the egr port and realized how tiny the throttle body bore is. Any ideas? The only aftermarket throttlebodys i found werr 69 to 72mm bores but id really prefer not to have to throw bigger injectors at it.
