So the good ol' midwest gives ya ton or snow/ice/rain and I just hate driving lowered in it lol

I bought the car used and im like the 3rd owner i think? so the stock suspension setup wasnt available/given to me when purchased.

also the stupid VSA kicks in everytime i push the throttle and the ABS comes alive everytime i touch the brakes....gonna be a long winter thats for sure

anyways around this without spending too much money? lol

I was running Bridgestone Blizzacks when I was in Colorado and they were bad ass. Break off and get you some snow tires for your ride homey.

1. Snow tires.
2. H.Techs for your car.

Go snow tires first and see how you like it before raising it.

Nothing like a Acura powered snow plow.

bottom line ---

You can have the best snow tires in the world, but if your lower than the snow you will get stuck. Happened to me about half dozen times, though not in the acura.

Actually happened to me in a 4x4 pickup too (lots of snow though).

If you wait for the plows to come by, you shouldnt have a problem gettin around, but its easy to get stuck on a side road with 6"-8" of snow that hasnt been plowed yet.

In my town the plows are fast but sometimes not fast enough. If i have to get to work, it could be a big hassle taking my acura out. Scenario number two, you get stuck at work while theres a white out going on, you get out to your car to see the lot is covered, and the nearby streets are not plowed yet. Sucks to be in a car with great snow tires but minimal ground clearance.

If your "pushing" snow in front of your car (or underneath it) its only a matter of time before the snow piles up enough to stop you.

Also worry about the sand and salt on your finish and not washing the car during the winter. If your lowered, hitting those hidden potholes is gonna prove to be uncomfortable.

While its not an option for everyone, i opted to buy a cheap 4wd to tow my boat and dirtbike -- it doubles as my winter daily and spring summer semi daily.

Dont mean to discourage you, just want to make sure you dont go out in a blizzard just because you have winter tires --- ill agree that just snow covered roads with little to no accumulation wont be too big a problem with a set of snow tires.

Bridgestone Blizzaks FTW!! Just put a full set on my Cl, they work 10x better than the stock michelins. This is my second car with a full set in Blizzaks because they really do work!

This is how I roll in the winter

I have a 6 speed, so no VSA (which I dont miss at all, I hate traction control). I have no problem getting stuck even in deep stuff, just have to be smart and keep your momentum.

BTW I use $60/piece 16" Winterforce tires on steelies, they are cheap and I dont have to worry about them bending or cracking from potholes. Plus its nice for 5 months out of the year not worrying about curbing the rims!

so by all accounts i pretty much hear "buy winter tires" lol

I'm not quite sure how good the Yokohama YK420s' are compared to other brands but they didnt seem too bad to me the past couple months I've owned the car.

I put some winter tires on my stock rims this year. They look like truck tires. No problems so far. Hey Dru, are you staying slammed all winter? Mr. Plow?

Chrome trim rings from ebay: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...214&highlight=

I think Joe got the steelies from Tirerack w/ his tires, but I'm guessing the steelies are 99-04 odyssey 16" 5x114.3 rims...

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-photograph-gallery-53/winter-mode-%3D-474551/

I've always loved Joe's winter setup, but I've been riding on 17 all seasons on stockies during the winter since Oct 2002 without an issue...

Green's got it.

And I rode on the stock all seasons for the 1st 2 winters without major issue. The winters tires are just that much better in the snow. Now when its dry they kinda suck, are loud, and have a real soft sidwall, but they ride nice and I dont have to worry about them getting damaged at all.

And actually I bought a set of lightly curbed 03 CL-S wheels for like $200, so next time I'm buying winter tires I'll buy 17" probably. I have a feeling these 16" tires are gonna last a couple more seasons though, as this will be their 4th winter and they still have over 1/2 the tread left.

Staying slammed hoping this winter doesn't have a lot of snow - Will probably put winter tires on the stockies for next winter since I just acquired some new rims.

Cool, yeah back in ugly mode right now. I work in Southfield and live on the east side, but I have offices all over Oakland county that I drive to on occasion.

I barely see any CL-S' out here, but when I was in Cali they were everywhere. Figures I guess.

Goodyear Ice Grip Ultra >>>>> Blizzaks. While Blizzaks are only silica rubber for 50% of the tread (and because of that they become all season tires when the first 50% is gone), Ice Grip Ultra are silica rubber all the way through. I had them in a previous car and couldn't break the back and loose even when I tried. Didn't have a problem getting started either even with +450hp.

I have new Dunlop Winter Sport M3s on the CL-S6 now. They're great in deep snow but suck on ice as they're barely a winter tire and more of a performance tire.
