Windows and Seats...working some of the time?

Hey Everyone:

I just got my '01 CL-S in May and I've noticed that sometimes when it's really hot out, the Auto-down feature on the Driver's side window doesn't work. The window stops halfway down and I have to hit the button again. The passenger seat doesn't always power-forward either...anyone else have these problems? I'm due for oil change #1 soon and I'm wondering what to tell the dealer.

I had the same problem with the power-dowm on the driver's side.

Also - I've noticed that the only time the passenger seat DOESN'T move forward to give access to the rear seats is when the car isn't in Park.

Yep, I got that window thing. The dealer has replaced the switch and the regulator so far and the problem is still there. Tried calling the bastard today, but did not get through. I think the motor needs to be replaced. Only happens when really hot.

I also have the same situation with the window. Only when it's in the 90's then it will make 3 stops on the way down. (requiring another push of the button) Not annoying to do anything about yet though.

Thanks, everyone. I'll mention these things at the dealer and find out info for you about fixes, etc. For those of you out there with the moonroof closed/shade open SQUEAKING nightmare, my dealer (Clair Acura in Norwood, MA) let me know that they have a fix. Your dealer will apply Teflon tape to the roof shade which fixes the issue at no charge. I can't believe they decided to make this car in the US...no offense, but I don't really trust our Auto workers these days!!!

The auto window down problem is proabably because you only flick the button rather than hold it for a full second...I experience the same thing...but it is a fairly common problem on power windows.

I thought you had to "flick it" to make it go all the way down. If I hold mine for more than a split second it stops as soon as I release.

i have both of these problems too. i have come to the conclusion that its like living with a woman, you get exactly what you want occASSionally. if you take it(her) to the doctor, they can not fix "intermittent problems"
haha

No window problems but both seats fail to go back to previous setting very randomly which I can't figure out. Maybe once in 5-10 times. Car in park, usually off, and I've pushed it back in place hard as others have mentioned. And almost always it goes to the shortest position. So far that is on my list along with the drooping exhaust on right side.

(that would be nice to ask the techs questions themselves)

With the power seats, the shifter is supposed to be in park in order for the seat to fold down so the passengers could get in and out. I thought that was a problem until the dealer told me because of safety issues. So don't worry about the passenger seat but for the mirror, I dont have any problems but just get it checked out

I also have the window problem, but what gets to me is that noone seems the have had a successful fix. The reason I have not taken it in is so that the more I wait the better the chances for the dealer to know what the solution is as more and more people will ask for the fix. What the heck?

My problem is with the seats...they suck! They never go back to the same spot! The driver seat will go forward and then when i flip it back it will go back a little and then stop! Never back to where it was. My 99 3.0 cl was the same way!

The seats also sense when they hit something and move forward a bit. Do you have something on the floor in the back?

Fortunately, I don't have a problem with either of these but it took some getting used to the putting the car in "P" before putting the passenger's seat back.

TSB 901?

My auto down window on my 2001 CL-S occasionally doesn't go all the way down. It's always hot here so I haven't noticed a pattern.... But I was looking on Edmunds.com (By the way: Read the inside story on car dealers-- RIVETING!) and out of curiosity looked up the NHTSA bulletins for our cars: There is a NHTSA Bulletin Number 626524, Acura bulletin (?) 901 regarding the power windows which seems to refer to this problem. So the dealers should know or be able to look it up. For me as well this hasn't really been such a hassle to actually complain and have the dealer monkey with it. And I do mean MONKEY. I think I'd rather drive over to the zoo, open up the hood and doors, and let the monkeys play on it than let the dealer service touch it.
