Im in MN too.
I would love to have mine tinted. But Im just affraid of getting pulled over and be asked to have it removed.

I think with 35% even though it is illegal, you could probally be fine. But here in MN its somewhere around $300+ for a good tint job with good warranty etc...
I cant afford to spend $300 then have it removed.

i had my tints done last week and got 5% in the rears and 35% in the front. i think it's good enough because i didnt wanna risk getting pulled over with any darker tints in the front

heres a quick picture i took a couple days ago:



i like how it looks. in direct sunlight you could slightly see through the front windows from the outside with the moonroof closed. at night it is a lot darker

Hey Calvin, did that place do a good job? I'm thinking about getting my windows retinted, and I'm also from the bay.

How'd they handle the dot matrix?

yeah they actually did a great job. for the back window they had taken out all of the back interior just to tint behind the 3rd brake light. for 5 windows it was $190. for the dot matrix i had 2 options: just to tint over it, or to simply black it out for an additional $65. In my opinion it looked a lot better with just tinting over it and it was not worth the extra $65. being blacked out it was a lot more noticeable than the little white circles that the dot matrix leaves behind being tinted. i would recomend this place if you are getting your tints. they use johnson tints with a lifetime warranty against any bubbling or peeling.

can u take more pictures lik ein the day time..im in the bay area..still looking for a place to get it done.. The palce u got it at sounds cheaper than others. What kind of tints do they carry at the tint shop u got it done at?

yeah i'll get some pictures asap. they use johnson tints and have pretty much every shade you could ask for. i got it done at a place called Speedzone on San Bruno Ave.

looks good, if you get the windshield tinted the same as the sides (35%) it'll look ALOT better...this is mine w/ 35% on the windshield

NOTE: tthe guy cut cleanly around my inspection stickers so they are still fully visible

so since this thread started i finally got pictures of my tints. i stuck with 35% in the fronts and 5% in the rears. i feel this is the perfect combination living in SF. dark enough but also with the roof open it is bright enough for the cops. heres some pics of the final outcome. enjoy

Yeah maybe on a show car but I wouldn't tint the front if your lookin' to drive it on the road.

well this is how the dot matrix looks with the tint. in the photos it actually showed up a lot more than it does in person. from how i look at it i could barely see any dots at all in person.









you will be a lot happier just tinting over it instead of blacking it out! trust me!

For some reason Im not digging the different % tints, but as soon as I get my registration sticker Ill be going with 20% all around on my TW.
