window rolls up reaaallly slow

Hey guys, my driver side window takes longer to roll up than my pass. side, and its real slow. Is this a sign of my window motor going out?

if so, is a pain in the ass to replace?

ty.

I would say that it sounds as if the motor is going out.

I wonder if anything could be catching the window and causing some resistance...just a thought.

Did you take the door panel off and take a look around?

if you find you need the window regulator, hit me up. I have a good used one that's just laying around.

I wouldnt think it could be an obstruction unless you got hit on the drivers side door recently. It's probably the motor going bad and it shouldnt be too bad a DIY if youre somewhat mechanically inclined lol

I'll try and find the thread I found about how to replace it...

On another question about the window though, I know the window is auto down but is it suppose to be auto up too? Just wondering cuz it seems cars defined as "luxury" should have the auto up feature, unless its a 'newer' idea and came after 2001-2003

i think it was a new idea lol... cause u would notice the switch would have two clicks when u pull up. cause when u push down lightly, it only goes down with u push, but if u push down alittle further, you feel a lilttle click in the button which makes the window go down all the way automatically.

The channeling could be rotting out, spray some WD-40 into the channeling areas (dont forget on the pillar area) and see if that helps. I was recommended to do so by a guy who repairs automotive windows for a living and it worked on my vehicle.

I have Clifford Smartwindows (auto window rollout) on my TL and that's what I have to do occasionally or the window doesn't auto rollup. Cheap fix ftw.

When I roll my windows up on accessory they usually take longer, especially first thing in the morning. Otherwise they are fine. Hope this helps some.

go to a honda dealer and buy shinetsu 08798-9013 it's a grease just for windows. read on the acura legend board it works WONDERS. any honda dealer will have it since they USE IT A LOT on the cars the service.

Thanks for the extra info, I may look into that in the future.

but according to http://www.wd40.com/faqs#q8:

What surfaces or materials are OK to use WD-40 on?
WD-40 can be used on just about everything. It is safe for metal, rubber, wood and plastic. WD-40 can be applied to painted metal surfaces without harming the paint. Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD-40.
it does say its petroleum based, but also claims it is safe for rubber. I haven't seen any degrading to the rubber since I have been using it.

silicone spray works a bit better to lube the parts, & it will last & hold up to heat & cold.

well honda tech's use shin etsu and sell them on their website, not wd-40. trust me read the thread, use this instead. the degradation of rubber doesn't mean you can see it, it can cause the life of the rubber to degrade and you won't be able to see that.

wd-40 can't be used on everything, its no miracle spray.

Ty guys

NF3, I'll take the door apart and see if theres anything in the way....

I havent had any accidents since I've had the car, and it used to be fine, so I'm guessing its the motor I found some on amazon for 80 bucks, not bad. I had the door panel apart about a year ago doing a speaker install, wish I had known then

as far as auto up nope, my IS350 rolls up auto though, its actually a pain in the ass because if you want to just crack it, you have to do it ever so gently.

Fuzzy you are correct, over time and if you don't have a garage to park in the window tracks get dirty and silicone spray works best for sticky windows.

My wifes window in her Miata was doing the same thing. Sprayed some lubricant and it was good to go. Try that before you buy a window motor.

Ummm, it does. At least mine does. I just wish the passenger side was auto up/down as well.

03. Pull up your switch, do you feel a notch? If so, your auto feature probably isnt programmed correctly. If you disconnected the battery, you'd probably have to program it. Basically, roll the window down all the way and hold the button for 3 seconds, the go all the way up and hold for 3 seconds. Programmed.

Yep, just a generic silicon spray, worked good. My pass window is still faster, like my car against your car, but it has improved i'd say 60%.

My CL is slow...

I don't push it either.

I'll always let people go faster...then they are the first one to be spotted by the Popo.

I am having the same problem, except it's my passenger side window. It rolls up about halfway, then stops kind of in the middle. Also, I have a Viper 5900 alarm and I have the window module, which gives me one touch up and down operation, so that might be a problem????

Thanks guys.
