Will a 2001 CL-S speedometer fit on a regular 2001 CL?
Will a 2001 CL-S speedometer fit on a regular 2001 CL?
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and have really benefited from all the good threads posted. Well basically I wanted to know if a 2001 CL-S speedometer fit on a regular 2001 CL? I'm thinking of buying one from ebay and doing the work myself to replace the black one it has.
Nope, I have a Type S already so no need to do the swap. But I do know you can remove the gauge faces.

once you have the guages out you must take them apart.
the guage cluster consists of 4 plastic parts
the clear
the rear white backing
the black face bezel
and the actual guage holder/pcb mount
all of these are removed by pushing the clips out of their resting points with a flathead screw driver.
NOte: be careful with the clear part because it will crack if u dont push out every clip before attempting to remove it.
once all the parts have been seperated you will be presented with the bare guages.
remove the needles by using two spoons on either end of the needle base and wedging them under and pushing up.
should look like this \-/ the dash is the needle base and the slashes are the spoons.
BE SURE NOT TO BEND THE NEEDLE OR ITS METAL STICK THAT GOES INTO THE MOTOR
once all the needles are removed you can remove the guage faces by peeling them off gently (there is double sided tape that u must reuse under them.)

Uhhh... It's not a simple swap. It will require extensive modification to the cluster. If I remember correctly, the coolant temp needle will act retarded. VSA needs to be swapped for the TCS, and many things like that. There was a guy who did the swap and wrote a DIY, and it was a mission.

^Some of the difficulty is because he had a 99 4 speed, but the other issues will still be there.

The original speedometer cluster in car now works great no problems, however I would love to have that white racing style look.
The person that is selling the part on ebay that the 2001 type-S part would not be compatible with my 2001 Acura CL. However, I know that someone has attempted this before. COME ON GUYS!!! I need some advice or ideas.
Also, I wouldn't like to pay $100 for a speedometer in order to use the white backing only.
ANYONE??
