Wierd Tranny Problem

This past week i made a visit to New Orleans and i noticed that sometimes when i sportshifted 3rd gear would be messed up. It felt as if when i shifted it 3rd it went into neutral. Is the tranny slipping?

thanks
mike

yes, it's slipping.

Say buh-bye to your transmission. Might want to give it a hug before it fails on you. It might last longer if it feels good.

Take it in to the dealership before your stranded or put into a position where you might have an accident.

Nah, unless you have N20 or some other form of F/I you should be OK.

If it keeps on happening i guess i will bring it in, but i drove 400 miles on it home and did not have a problem (wishful thinking).

You may not now, but you will.

And, you don't want the catastrophic failure...trust me.

When mine went, I noticed that pulling out from a stop, the car would hesitate in tehe shift between 2nd and 3rd and then throw me back (and chirp the wheels) when 3rd would catch.

my third gear never catches so i have to go back to 2nd or go forward to 4th. It seems to only happen at the lower rpms, i am going to acura today to get it looked at/fixed. How long does it take for them to fix the tranny?

I waited 10 days and had to drive a buick regal...consider yourself lucky on the loaner....Please be sure to file the NHTSA complaint form...The link is in the Transmission section
