Why the rake?

Just wanted to know why the springs (both from Comptech and Eibach) have a rake. All I can figure out is that it puts more weight on the front tires so we can get better traction. So...WTF?

I just got the Eibach Pro-kits installed on my cl-s and have little to no rake. The Comptech's appear to have more rake according to the many pictures I've seen on this site.

Did you get the Eibach kit for the accord? I know that one is level, but the eibach kit they make especially for the CLS has a 2.1" in front, and a 1.7" in back.

Daayhm! Only added about 40lbs with the JL, box, amp, and x-over in Jackie. Anything over that, she'd start bitchin (women!!) Will be trying to sneak in some Dynomat back there to stop the rattling.

Any reasoning on the rake AJA?

Eibach does not make a kit just for the CL-S. The Accord kit says a 1.5 drop but when you put that on the CL its seems like at least a 2" drop. I think thats because CL's come with 17" rims and Accords come with 15"
rims. Maybe just a guess!!!

Got it! But one of the guys from Cali has the proline (or whatever, the one with the 2" drop) and it sits level??

could be two reasons for that...the prokit has to be stiffer yet to support the lesser spring travel and they may have been designed to lower the back end more than the front on the accord some kits do that to cars to make them level i prefer rake and will prolly buy the H&R's o.e. sport .75/.50

I got the pro-kits for the v6 accord #4041.140. They don't make one specific to the CL-S. The drop is even...no more 4x4 look.

if you want level get coilovers...but the comptechs don't make it noticeably raked...although I have about 120 pounds of stereo....

This is just a guess but here it goes. Most likely the rake is a part of the springs for the same reason the factory springs have a slight rake.Aerodynamic lift at speed. If you look at a car in profile it roughly has the shape of aircraft wing.In order to prevent lift spoilers are added and also a certain amount of rake to minimize as much as possible the amount of air getting below the car.Although it is unlikely that any of you will drive your cars at constant speeds in excess of 100 mph it is however possible. This possibility is what worries car makers and spring makers.Although it is illegal to travel at these speeds it is ofcourse reasonable to assume some of you will try.So a car maker must design the car to be stable at those velocities that the car is capable of attaining.Another possiblity exists and that is that the rear of the car has a trunk.Since the maker of the car can only recommend a weight limit and has no real control over what people do with their cars in the real world they must therefore account for those likely to try to stuff too much in the trunk which will in turn lower the rear of the car causing all sorts of problems. The thing is that the front of the car has an engine in it so the weight of the car in the front is more or less predictable even accounting for passengers in the car, but the trunk is ofcourse subject to the wisdom or lack thereof of the owner of the car.Jens

Rake! Of course it's there. Why do you think jets on the runway have rake?!

Love the rake!

Comptech told me that their springs have a rake for people who decide to load up the trunk. Who knows though.

Yeah it's so that it doesn't look like the ASS is sagging like with some other spring setups.
