Why peolpe speed in a beater....?

I usually keep my slow ass CLS around 65 on 55 just to find the the some shitty box, e.g. 1980's caprice and other beater just fly by in the fast lane. I pulled to 80 and he still something like 95=100.

But why people in a shitty beaters drive so fast, find no reason why to go that speeds each day.

My thoughts exactly Nashua_Night_Hawk

It like I am doing like 75 in the fast lane, then I see this 1980's beat up car comming closer to me then tailing me...SO I punch the car a little and get him off my ass.

Later if I decide to move over to the next lane I see this same guy just fly right pass me at like 85 or so. I think to myself.."damn this guy must be really pushing his car to the limit" Then I think how much of a liability this guy is on the road with his beat up car (not that I am not when I'm going 75 or 85) but it's not like he has a performance car either.

This always cracks me up. I usually let them pass b/c their cars may fall apart at those speeds!!

I don't understand how it matters what car you're driving in to go at a high speed. If your car can take it there could be a number of reasons to go fast. Namely, urgency, thrill, stupidity.

It is definitely more dangerous in a shitty car since you dont have all the safety features a newer, more expensive car may have but the reasons to go fast are the same.

When I'm driving my 92 passat it doesnt make me go slower. The car has gone up to 115mph and has a max speed of 140mph so it's not going to fall apart at 85. I don't try to race better cars in it but I still go fast.

I used to drive a 1998 Chevey Cavalier, so When I used to reach 85, the car felt Unstable. And this is a new 1998 car. So It does make a huge diffrence if you are in a sporty or shitty car. Some cars sre never meant to be driven beyond 65.

In my CLS crusing at 100 is very normal excerices on an open road, through in some twisties and you find out that you are better be at 80. However, no way a beater with base suspension and tire combo can safely handle high speed maneouvers.

I always try stay away from those road hazard, imagine a beater doing a 100 and losing control on a HW , starting, spinning, rolling and crushing....

People with more money tend to be smarter. Hence, $100,000 car drivers know better than to speed, while Redneck Russ in his El Camino can't locate Atlanta on a map.

It's not safe to let those things pass you.

Their rear bumper might fly off and nail your car.

Had a 89 or so Nissan Sentra flying up and behind me in the fast lane. I was going about 75 mph and he was flying up behind me fast. The HWY was closing down to one lane( the kind with barriers on both sides), so to be nice (and safe) I went ahead and deiceied to move to the Rt lane so he could pass me(Yes I Used my blinker). But He thought he would be a bad ass and drive around me but instead he almost hit me. He Paniced lost control and ran in to the concrete barrier then ran in to the concert barrier on the other side (If he had just slowed down and not try to swerve he would have been fine), and totally shredded his car.

I couldn't stop for him, on shoulder and the other traffic, I was way past him but I saw the some other cars stop for him so all I could do is Call the police.
You're right. these people need to learn to drive

Even if your careful their stupidity can still affect you.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

I drove a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire up until last December and I don't remember having any problems going that fast. It wasn't as stable as my Accord is, but it wasn't bad. I wonder if that Cavalier wasn't set up right.

Actually I'm serious... It makes sense. Dumb people [bold]tend[/bold] not to have money. Smart people do. Legit money... any idiot can rob a bank.
